I'm pretty sure that a lot of the under 40 Beatles fans' journey with the Fab Four stated off here. It took me a week of the album lying around the house for me to get started on it and once I did, I was so pissed off for wasting that week NOT listening to it. It goes without saying that I was hooked from the beginning and not even 6 months from listening to it, it has already changed my life and the way I view music.
When I have kids, they'll be sure to grow up on The Beatles and the lagacy can live on for another 100 years through the next generation

I agree with JazzFan. Twist and Shout is another obvious omission. I plan on making my own Red and Blue expanded CDs to fill in the gaps, and call it 'The Purple Album'. LOL
Omissions aside, this is a GREAT double CD compilation. The Beatles are truly one of music's best bands.

to give this collection less than a 5 star rating seems impossible, given the fact that the beatles are the standard that all pop music since must be judged by. these tracks are phenomenal, really, a monument to human civilization. it seems impossible that four really young men from one little city in england could be responsible for this. it's also amazing that for once the masses recognized real talent. I love the Beatles and really enjoyed this album, already have the later one. I was hoping for a few other songs on it like happy birthday to ya, but anything Beatles is great.
