Free Music Review: Solid Early Beatles
Hit: 4 Stars

This is second to only With the Beatles as my favorite of the group's pre-Rubber Soul albums. I'll admit it was a tentative time for the group, but they made unforgettable music during that period. Most of this album is catchy, hook-filled rock: the title track; The Night Before; You're Gonna Lose That Girl (with Ringo turning in some of his best drums in history); Ticket to Ride; You Like Me Too Much; Tell Me What You See (the closest thing to an underrated Beatles song I can imagine) and the acoustic I've Just Seen a Face are the highlights here. There are also a couple ballads, the strongest being John's Dylan-esque You've Got to Hide Your Love Away. On the other hand, George's I Need You is miserable, and the much-hyped Yesterday is, in my mind, bathetic lounge music and easily the most overrated Beatles song in history. That's just me, though. There are a few other duds (Another Girl, Ringo's awful C&W showcase Act Naturally), but this album is much better than I had given it credit for on my previous review, which desperately needed editing.

Free Music Review: thier second movie.
Hit: 5 Stars

this was thier second movie.the first one was "a hard days night".starting off was yet another #1 song called "help".it was a cry for help from john lennon.then came a happy persons answer to "yesterday" called "the night before".then one with a funny little mess up in it.the songs called "youve got to hide your love away".in it,when it was being recorded, john said "feeling 2 ft small instead of "tall".they liked it better and kept it."i need you" is all about a unhealthy dependance on another."another girl" is where the beatles get into the whole cheating factor.then its follow up ditty,"youre going to lose that girl".so now the album progresses nicely.[- the whole break up theme].then another #1!it was called "ticket to ride "about a chick leaving them and not caring how they hurt.that made thier 10th #1 in only 3 years!you might remember a bit of "act naturaly" from the old woodys round up show.still stuck?see toy story 2.watch the song performance at the end.there it is.its all about not only being musical legends in thier own time, but now getting into movies too.i belive this is the only song ringo wrote all on his own too."its only love" conjures up images of fleeting racing emotions associated with depression."you like me too much" is pretty self explanatory but he does say "and i love you",so it cant be all that bad."tell me what you see" is a bit weird.well, they were using pot and pills then so you can expect a little wierdness.it goes "look into these eyes girl.tell me what you see.it is no suprise girl.what you see is me".thats an early foreshadowing into much deeper future beatle lyrics."ive just seen a face".it was a face of love.then as the album was slowing, they pull a total 180 and play "yesterday".this song set a world record for being covered by the most other artists.over 7500 covers have been done of it.it also hit #1.so as you probably guessed its a heck of a good song.then it ends with "dizzie miss lizzie".a oldie style song from paul to end it all on a happy note.so,this album spawned 3 #1s,a movie and a world record.

Free Music Review: The Beatles: Help! (1965)
Hit: 5 Stars

In May of 1965, The Beatles released their seventh album entitled THE EARLY BEATLES, an album in which contains eleven of The Beatles' early recordings, which made their first appearance on PLEASE PLEASE ME. In June of 1965, The Beatles released their eighth album entitled BEATLES VI (pronouned Beatles 6), another compilation album, featuring six new songs.

In August of 1965, The Beatles released their ninth album entitled, HELP! This album coincides with their second film of the same name. What made their film, HELP!, different from their film, A HARD DAY'S NIGHT, is that HELP! was in color. This album is another one of The Beatles' best albums. An album no Beatles fan can refuse.

HELP!
The album's title track. This song should be recognized by everybody today. It is, indeed, one of The Beatles major hits, and the song is adored by every Beatles fan. An awesome song.

THE NIGHT BEFORE
I love this song. Can't get enough of it.

YOU'VE GOT TO HIDE YOUR LOVE AWAY
This has always been one of my favorite songs. Gotta love that flute towards the end of the song.

I NEED YOU
Not bad.

ANOTHER GIRL
This is another one of my favorite songs. My favorite scene in the movie is where they are singing this, where Paul McCartney has a girl pose like a bass, as he acts like he is strumming on her.

TICKET TO RIDE
I never use to be fond of this song until I found the song growing on me. This song was one of their greatest, and it would later be covered by The Carpenters.

ACT NATURALLY
Another song sung by Ringo. I love this song and I love the way Ringo sings it.

YOU LIKE ME TOO MUCH
Not bad.

TELL ME WHAT YOU SEE
Great.

I'VE JUST SEEN A FACE
Great.

YESTERDAY
This is The Beatles' second biggest single with Paul McCartney on lead vocals.

DIZZY MISS LIZZIE
Everytime I hear my mother say that she hates this song, I want to smack some common sense into her. This song is just incredible. Yeah, it is corny, but the song is just great.

I recommend that if any Beatles fan who does not have this album that they get this album before I hunt them down and buy the album for them. You will all love this album.

Free Music Review: Help!
Hit: 5 Stars

Help! was the soundtrack to the Beatles movie, originally called "Eight Arms To Hold You". The movie was some kind of a joke, even the Beatles said so, however, this album is good. It's one of my favourite Beatles albums. By this time, the Beatles were getting more serious and complex in their music.

John Lennon was on his depressed state which we learnt about in Beatles For Sale. Help! is a cry for help, You've Got To Hide Your Love is about being teased because of your love (kind of a Yoko thing some years later), Ticket To Ride is about being dumped and It's Only Love is about not getting along well with your love, but you want to be with her anyway. However, he could still give out the happy, friendly warnings of You're Gonna Lose That Girl.

Paul was getting very complex. I don't really like his double-tracked voice throughout the album, on a few songs, he's had better moments. The singing on I've Just Seen A Face is perfect though, and there's Yesterday...

George and Ringo were doing as usual: Rocking out! George wrote two songs on this album. One is You Like Me Too Much, and that's my least favourite Beatles song! The attitude is horrible, and it's a complete rip-off I Don't Want To Spoil The Party, that's why I can't stand it. I Need You is genius though.

Help! -- One of the best songs ever written. I can relate to this. Awesome track! Only a genius like Lennon could have done this song.
The Night Before -- Great song by Paul, I love it. I love the F, F, G thingy after the verses, and the solos are wicked.
You've Got To Hide Your Love Away -- I won't say this sounds like Bob Dylan because it would mean every single song with only vocals/guitars or any folk song has a Dylan influence. Sure, John HAD a Dylan influence for the arrangements of this song. Great one by the way!
I Need You -- INCREDIBLE SONG! I love this. Great lyrics, and great middle.
Another Girl -- Ugh ... The lyrics suck, I don't like the music and the vocals are pretty horrible at some points.
You're Going To Lose That Girl -- Yay! Excellent song!
Ticket To Ride -- According to Lennon, the origin of metal. Great guitars and wonderful drums, plus some nice vocals at some point. The middle verses are a bit weak though.
Act Naturally -- Great lyrics. Nice singing by Ringo. Originally performed by Buck Owens.
It's Only Love -- I love this song. I love the lyrics. I love everything! Masterpiece! Sounds like Dylan in the vocals.
You Like Me Too Much -- Bad. Not really the worst Beatles song, but it's not good.
Tell Me What You See -- I never pay too much attention to this. Pretty not-there.
I've Just Seen A Face -- Paul did an excellent job writing this. The vocals fit perfectly. This is a fast song!
Yesterday -- Hey, it's Yesterday. Do I need to say anymore?
Dizzy Miss Lizzy -- Great way to finish the album! Hell yeah! Great riffs by George, and John once again tries to revive the shouting of Twist And Shout. He doesn't make it, Twist And Shout is a legend, but he makes a nice job. Originally performed by Larry Williams.

Overall, amazing album, one of my favourite albums ever!

Free Music Review: Help Me if you can
Hit: 5 Stars

Help was recorded as a kind of soundtrack to the movie of the same name (originally entitled 'Eight arms to hold you'), in the same vein as a Hard Day's Night. The first half of the album contains songs that were recorded for the movie, the latter half to round out the album. That being said, don't expect a great gulf between the first and second half. The Beatles didn't write 'filler' songs, or if they did they were so good that I never notice anyway...

Help perhaps isn't as classic as some other Beatles albums, like Sgt Peppers, Revolver, Rubber Soul, The White Album etc. But it's clearly a wonderful album and well worth purchasing. All Beatles albums are great; that is a rule of thumb with no exception, so don't ever be deterred from buying a Beatles album.

Help is perhaps the last of the 'classic' early era Beatles work. Even at this stage the sound was beginning to mature and develop, on songs such as 'I've Just seen a face', and 'Yesterday' for instance, we see a more progressive outlook. But it seems to fit into the early era Beatles without too much difficulty. Songs such as 'Help', 'The Night Before', etc fit in with the earlier catalogue of Beatles songs

There is a lot to like about this album; the well known and well loved title track; the classic and beautiful Yesterday, the incredible 'Ticket to Ride'. Yet not only the singles are breathtaking; 'You're gonna lose that girl' is an extremely catchy, upbeat song. 'Youve got to hide your love away' is a nice acoustic track.

I won't say too much about the rest of the album. George's offerings are good as always; Ringo sings the cover of 'Act Naturally', which I personally find very enjoyable to listen to. Dizzy Miss Lizzy is a very fun song; must have been hard on John's voice with lots of in-tune yelling. There are other tracks which are also good; though they aren't as memorable as the ones mentioned.

Help doesn't quite meet the timeless standard of some other BEatles records; Abbey road etc, BUT it's still an excellent album and easily worth purchasing.
