Free Music Notes for Let It BeFree Music Review: Please...Let It be..It's all LIVE !! Hit: 5 StarsI really enjoy this album and was really torn between naked and the original..But Let It Be delivers as good or even better than 'naked'...Beatlegirl61
Free Music Review: In many ways their most "fun" album Hit: 5 StarsOK, I suppose it's not a great as Abbey Road, Sgt. Pepper, Revolver, or Rubber Soul. But I personally think it's more "fun" to listen to. I wont go through each track, many other reviewers have done that very well already and it ultimately boils down to personal taste. For example, some people hate Long and Winding Road; others love it. Additionally, most folks say this is the least-good Beatle Album. I don't agree - I'd award that to the White Album which would have been a great single disc album, as George Martin wanted.
If Let It Be is not as good as the first four listed above, why 5 stars? Well, after all it is the Beatles and this album is better than anything our current artists can muster at all. If you gave stars on a REAL relative worth scale, the the above-named albums would (from me) get 5 stars and all the other Beatle Albums would get 4. I wouldn't give a 5 star ratings to any other rock-era albums by ANYBODY. Remember - we're talking albums here, not individual songs. The Beatles were, and remain, the only artists who could produce an entire album of worthwhile songs.
On that scale I might generously give 3 stars to a few current artists' but that would be based on individual songs. Based on entire albums...well, that's why I use Itunes to get the one good song off of current releases.
So, buy this CD and enjoy the Beatles in a more "relaxed" production mode (even though this session was anything but that career-wise)
Free Music Review: Unfairly Dismissed Hit: 5 Stars It is generally accepted by Beatles fans that Let It Be was a messy failure. I am baffled by this approach to a great album, and I think its worthwhile to try to figure out why it has been dishonoured almost universally. There seem to be two reasons: 1) the production by Phil Spector is a bit over-the-top and at times embarrassing with the use of stringed instruments in the background, making it sound a bit unlike our beloved Beatles, and 2) the widespread misconception that this was the final Beatles album, coupled with the fame of their breakup, could lead one to believe that Let It Be was the beginning of the end. However, the release of Let It Be after Abbey Road belies the fact that the former was in fact recorded first. How, then, could Let It Be show the Beatles disintegrating, when only months later they recorded one of their greatest masterpieces?
Let It Be does have a number of songs which are rather unoriginal blues riffs, but it doesn't matter. Two Of Us, Dig A Pony, Across The Universe, I Me Mine, and Let It Be are all among their greatest recordings. Furthermore, the "unoriginal" filler on the album is really enjoyable, even though it doesn't reach the awfully high standards of Lennon/McCartney and Harrison compositions.
N.B.: DO NOT buy Let It Be...Naked. I didn't listen to the reviews, and bought it simply for a copy of Don't Let Me Down. That was a stupid mistake, for a better version of that song exists on Past Masters, Vol. 2, while nothing else on the album is significantly different except for Across the Universe and I Me Mine. Further, a few of the songs (Dig It and Maggie Mae) are not on the Naked rerelease. They may not be among the best on the album, but considering the length of the album there was no reason to cut them, and I firmly believe they add to the listening experience if you are planning on playing the album from start to finish.
Free Music Review: The soundtrack of a generation comes to a close Hit: 5 StarsThe Beatles' break up in 1970 was headline news all over the world. The boys had been working nonstop for 8 years straight, producing number one albums one after another and maintaining the title of the most important band in the world. However, the abrupt breakup left an album worth of songs unfinished in Apple studios. Producer Phil Spector took the job to complete what was to become the Beatles' final album Let It Be, released in the spring that year.
Let It Be is unique in that it is, after all, the last album by The Beatles. You sense a lack of chemistry especially between Paul and John on the first track I Got A Feeling, where Paul is singing the chorus and John enters with "everybody had a hard year..." which sounds like a completely different song altogether. However, the Beatles succeed in revisiting their sound from the early 60's in One After 909, a song that can fit well on A Hard Day's Night, while Paul and John seem to put away their differences and settle down on Two Of Us, an incredible duet between the two most famous songwriting partners in history. Individually, three of the Beatles offer their traditional dosage of tunes. Lennon offers Across The Universe, which has become one of his greatest contributions to the Beatles catalogue. Harrison rocks it out good on I Me Mine. McCartney, on the other hand, gives the album the theme song Let It Be, which became a soundtrack song of the generation, The Long And Winding Road, and the awesome rocker Get Back.
With Let It Be, the world lost their most gifted rock band forever (the murder of Lennon in 1980 drew the curtain on the possibility of the fab four ever getting back together), and the soundtrack of an entire generation came to a close.

Free Music Review: Absolutely Perfect Hit: 5 StarsAs many reviews have already said, Let It Be was the only Beatles album that was met with an occaisional bad review, but I think that saying that Let It Be isn't a masterpiece is a crime. Many of the songs on Let It Be are some of my favorites of all time (Dig A Pony, I Me Mine, Let It Be, The Long and Winding Road), and almost every song is just as wonderful as the next. I don't need to say much more, because most of the good reviews have already said it, but no album collection is complete without Let It Be.
