Free Music Notes for Let It BeFree Music Review: A true legacy! Hit: 5 StarsThe Beatles experienced an overwhelming twist of fate and undeniable grow up process in their career. Now that the psychedelic roads have been transited, they decide to turn aside and explore new possibilities into the classic lyricism. There is something in their minds about the uncertainness and riddles about the their future as ensemble. Every one of them has grown up by his own way and the differences seem to be major than their collective ambition. All of them know they established a road, and the first signals of rivalries begin to appear in the horizon.
I was just a middle teenager when I had that dark presentiment listening these songs. They seemed to be preparing to their big audience all over the world, that the end was coming. It' s hard to express in words to all that new generation who did not live that age, but I beg you to imagine the circumstances without looking forward; and for those all readers who lived those ages, may be it is easier to guess what I mean. The obscure sensation of Farewell remains as a quiet and stormy cloud, above us.
On the other hand, the themes of this prestigious, simply are emblematic and flaring: "Get back", "Let it be" and "The long and winding road" are reasons (just by themselves) more than enough to acquire this historic album.
What else can I add?
The rest is silence.
And let it be!
Free Music Review: Actually a rocking little record ... Hit: 3 Stars... but still a swing and a miss, due to the Beatles' own disinterest in the whole project. I listened to this recently for the first time in, well -- okay, thirty years -- and was surprised how good much of this sounds. Yeah, the strings are pretty swoony and distract from the "live-in-concert" idea, but the songs aren't all clunkers ("Across The Universe" is gorgeous) and John's cheeky wit saves the day. The project absolutely ran out of steam by the time it got to Spector's hands, though in fairness to the Beatles as professionals it must have been a little less than thrilling to hear their own boredom and animosity coming through the tape hiss. Even the song selection is a clue: George's scathing "I Me Mine" makes it to the album, while John's heartfelt plea to his bandmates ("Don't Let Me Down") gets reduced to a single B-side. That says a lot.
As it is, though, the album suffered from the hand of fate as much as any producer's tinkering; the Stones had already unleashed "Let It Bleed," making this patchwork effort sound less than inspired. Paul's recent second-guessing of the project, on "Naked," is totally unneccessary but it's not like he's mucking about with "Sgt. Pepper" material here. After the Beatles' true, "wall-of-sound" finale with "Abbey Road", the music on "Let It Be" seems archaic and a just a little creaky.
Free Music Review: the very last beatle album. Hit: 5 Starsthis was released in 1970.it symbolized the death of the hippie era because they od'd right after this album went out or they just butnt out and started making the 1980s[it took them the whole 70s ].they even put out thier 5th movie entitled let it be at this time.its really just them making the album."on our way home" was all about great memories and things.it was just like saying we are getting ready to disband.oooohhhhhh,so tragic!then "i dig a pony".it was different but cool in typical lennon fashion.my 2nd favorite beatle song "across the universe" was up next.definately drug related.a chick does a version of it at the end of the movie "pleasentville"."i me mine" was all about the greedy way people were."dig it" was a short little thing in between spaces.then "let it be" came on.in between hey jude and let it be there were 2 more albums called the white album and abbey road.there were 2 more #1s on abbey road which were "something" -georges 2nd self done song .it was for his wife patti.in the 70s when she was with eric clapton,he wrote layla and wonderful tonight for her also.the other #1 was "come together".that was thier 24th #1 song."let it be" the song was thier 25th #1.it is abselutely beautiful.he says its for his mom.how sweet!then a dirty little limerick called "maggie mae"."ive got a feeling" came up.pearl jam covered that one.even though they normaly suck, pearl jam pulled off this cover.it was a really good song too.then paul digs deep for an old school beatles song and plays "one after 909".2 more to go!the last 2 songs were thier 26th and 27th #1s.this set a world record for a band having the most #1s of all time.the songs were "the long and winding road" which is exsquisite and "get back"-another throwback song.they eventualy got over 1 billion record sales for thier albums.the only band to exceed 1 billion.that makes them the band with more sales than other band or soloist or any other conglomeration in the history of time!that makes them the best!the dream was indeed over!
Free Music Review: Obscure But Good Hit: 3 StarsSometimes I feel it's a pity that this album was realeased. I mean, ABBEY ROAD was to be The Beatles last album. It was such a perfect summary for the groups career, ending ABBEY ROAD with singing: "And in the end, the love you take i equal to the love you make". But LET IT BE is still a pretty good album. It's just that it feel as it was realeased in the wrong time, better if it'd been realeased before ABBEY ROAD.
I don't really like Phil Spectors part on this album. The muddy "wall of sound" production just doesn't fit with those songs, niether with The Beatles for that part. The idea of the album was that no effects should be used. Only "straight" recordings, just like in their early days. Spector's strings, horns, trumpets, "angle backing vocals" and things like that destroys this original idea.
But, as I said before, LET IT BE still is a great album. It contains some very nice songs, for example the kinda philosophic "Dig A Pony", the beautiful "The Long And Winding Road", the spacy "Across The Universe" and the classics "Get Back" and "Let It Be". Not to forget the rocking "I've Got A Feeling", which once again proves that Lennon and McCartney wrote their best songs when they were writing together.
But if you want LET IT BE, I think you should skip the original album and instead buy the realative new-realeased LET IT BE...NAKED. This one shows how LET IT BE was meant to be, without Spector's overdubs on the songs. NAKED replaces two of the original tracks, "Dig It" and "Maggie Mae", with one new, "Don't Let Me Down", which is much better than the other two songs together.
I give LET IT BE three stars, but I would probably give five to the NAKED version. So if you want a better album, designed as The Beatles wanted it and without the muddy Spector sounds (especially "The Long And Winding Road" sounds much better), you should buy the latter.
Free Music Review: The Beatles: Let It Be (1970) Hit: 5 Stars In February of 1970, The Beatles released their eighteenth album entitled HEY JUDE (THE BEATLES AGAIN). That album was another compilation, while it featured five new songs entitled, "Hey Jude" (which was recorded and released as a single back in 1968), "Lady Madonna", "Old Brown Shoe", "Don't Let Me Down", & "The Ballad Of John & Yoko".
In May of 1970, The Beatles released their nineteenth album entitled, LET IT BE. This album was actually recorded in 1969, right before they recorded the ABBEY ROAD album. When they finished recording this album, they shelved it, thinking that it wouldn't sell. But because of their contract, they were required to deliver another album before they made their breakup official. They chose LET IT BE to be their last studio recorded album. LET IT BE is classic work of art and it is a sad album in the sense that it was to be their last studio recorded album, following that of their tragic breakup.
TWO OF US
Incredible.
DIG A PONY
Great.
ACROSS THE UNIVERSE
Great.
I ME MINE
Amazing.
DIG IT
Great.
LET IT BE
The album's amazingly beautiful title track. In 1998, when Linda McCartney, Paul's first wife, had passed on after her battle with breast cancer, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, & Ringo Starr had performed this song at her memorial service. I think that performing this for Linda was one of the greatest gestures in saying goodbye. This song is just outstanding.
MAGGIE MAE
Not bad.
I'VE GOT A FEELING
Paul McCartney does most of the lead vocals himself on this song, but John then comes in on lead vocals and finishes out the song, with a rather "Funny" line in the song. Great song.
ONE AFTER 909
This song is one of their best. They do sing a little fast, but that is what I like about it. The fastness to the vocals really fits the essence of the song.
THE LONG AND WINDING ROAD
This song is another one of my all-time favorite songs. This song has to be one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard.
FOR YOU BLUE
Not bad.
GET BACK
Another one of the greatest songs they have ever recorded. I will be seeing Paul McCartney in concert for the first time in my hometown of South Philadelphia on September 23, 2005. I am hoping that he will perform this song.
This album, as I said before, was, sadly enough, their last studio album together. When they breakup happened, all of us fans (well, I was not born until 15 years later), were heartbroken, but they had left behind a legacy that was to be remembered by everyone on this planet. The Beatles were, indeed, the best band that had "Come Together". They will forever be in our hearts and memories. I have grown up with The Beatles. I am 20 years old and I have the most fondest memories with their music. Listening to these albums brings back memories that reach as far as my days in diapers. This band is the ultimate meaning of the word "Music" and they can never be forgotten. Buying this album helps etch your memories of The Beatles in pure stone. So, make sure you have or buy a copy of LET IT BE right now.
