Free Music Notes for Love (CD + Audio DVD)Free Music Review: Beatles Love DVD Hit: 5 StarsBeautiful, full sound from this audio DVD - amazing to hear the Beatles in such an original and vivid recording - not sure how they did this (original sound tracks?) - but this DVD is likely hearing their instruments played live. I was tried of hearing the Beatles until I heard this, now I love the music once more.
Free Music Review: Take a sad song and make it better! Hit: 5 StarsThe real stars of this one are not the Beatles but the Martins!
Father and son producer team George and Giles have done such a brilliant job "mashing" the Beatles work that you really start to believe it's the lads themselves who are all alive and well and back together and decided, "Hey, let's have a laugh and do a live show in Vegas where we deliberately mess about with the arrangements!"
The end result is not unlike the experimentation from the Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road albums (music played backwards, medleys, segues and whatnot) so this is PERFECTLY in keeping with the Beatles' well-known eccentric sense of humour.
Above all, IT WORKS, astonishingly well. Stuff like combining Come Together with the backing of Dear Prudence actually gives the Fabs a harder, tighter, more symphonic, more rocking sound than they did before. And, believe me, if you're not up dancing at such ingenious medleys as Drive My Car/What You're Doing/The Word and Revolution/Back In The U.S.S.R., there's something terribly wrong with you. There I was, a grown man, going "This is SO COOL!!"
Anyway! This is infinitely preferable than another boring old greatest hits collection. If you want a FUN alternative to your usual Beatles listening experience, this is it. An upbeat, refreshing, uniquely creative achievement. And remember...this project originated with George Harrison. Can't get much more legit than that!
Free Music Review: Beatles Love Hit: 5 StarsI never thought anything to be better than the original. Love is all that and more.
Free Music Review: A Magical Mystery Tour of Beatles music! Hit: 5 StarsThe Beatles album we wished they made all those years ago! Love sounds like the follow up of Abbey Road. A trippy album that you can listen to from beginning to end like Pink Floyds Dark Side Of The Moon! You MUST get a TRUE 5.1 surround system to totally enjoy this. But if not, its still a fun listen! GREAT!
Free Music Review: Note the Cirque part, and relax Hit: 5 StarsThe sound is spectacular, especially the audio DVD, which is all I've listened to. The arrangements are interesting, and a refreshing adaptation of the music we've loved for decades.
It is important to note that this was prepared for a Cirque de Soliel show. So keeping that in mind, this is not 'George Martin gone wild' and messing with the music. If anything, this makes me look forward to the upcoming remastering, as the original albums were great for the time, but they've got that stereo thing down now.
So as someone who has played Beatle songs for about 40 years on anything from accordian to banjo, and has been to Liverpool, stood outside their houses, walked down Penny Lane, saw Strawberry Fields, and sang for the locals on the stage at The Cavern, this collection is nicely done, and sounds absoultely lovely in 5.1. Dude, do the DVD!
