Free Music Notes for Love (CD + Audio DVD)Free Music Review: Can I give this 100 stars ? Magnificent Achievement Hit: 5 Stars
I loved the Beatles when they first arrived on U.S. shores when I was in the 7th grade. So I have a real bias in "growing up" with them.
I thank the Lord that the great Sir George Martin is still living, because know one else, but the original Producer of these Beatles masterpieces could have done this incredible achievement.
To hear the Beatles magical creations, re-mastered from their original tapes, re-mastered, so we can hear it the way the music really sounded originally.
If this incredible re-mastering was not enough, Sir George and son put together the songs not in any way it was heard before, but with matching snipits of some of the songs mixed together, blending together, enhancing each other in an absolutely, stupifying, visual way.
I can't imagine how great the Vegas show is this sounds to me like hearing the Beatles again, almost for the first time. But the music is SOOOO visual !!
This also is the first time I have heard DVD Audio. I loaded it on my DVD player, which is connected to my amplified speakers and WOWOWOWOW. PLAY THIS LOUD !!
So crystal clean and clear and we are able to hear of the nuances of all the instrumentation, harmonies that we have missed before due to the technical limitations of having to convert the original audio tapes to record.
This project was George's idea and I am sure he is thrilled. John as well has to be smiling with this creative masterpiece. It is the Beatles for the 22nd century.
Thank you Beatles and for George Martin !!
Free Music Review: "Love" is all you need Hit: 5 Stars
This is truly an awesome DVD-Audio/CD disc. The sonic quality of the DVD_Audio is superb, and anytime you can get a sonically improved version of Beatles tunes is worthwhile. Much has been said about how some of the tunes are remixed to include snippets of other Beatles tunes - I thought these remixes were masterful, and reveals how interchangeable some of the Beatles music is. They literally had their music down to a science. Even though I am young to have gone through the peak of the Beatles at the perfect teenage age (I am 50), I'm grateful to be able to appreciate such expert musicianship. There will never be a group whose vocalists come together as seamlessly as the Beatles, in perfect harmony. Their melodic compositions and lyrics are superb as well. I was fortunate to see the "Love" show in Vegas and if you have that chance, do so - it is an unforgettable evening of entertainment.
If I have any gripes about "Love," it's that not all of my favorite Beatles tunes are included, though the disc has 26 cuts. More of the songs are from the Sgt. Pepper/White Album/Yellow Submarine era. I missed "If I Fell" and "Penny Lane." These are small gripes, since it is impossible to put all their hits on one disc, and the "Love" show on which the DVD is based can only last so long in one evening.
If you are a Beatles fan or just a fan of well-crafted and re-imagined music, you must get this disc. The price is right too.
Thanks,

Free Music Review: The Music Just Keeps On Coming! Hit: 5 Stars
So when was the last time you plopped a music disc in your drawer, and INSTANTLY loved what you heard? It's rare nowadays, but that's what happened to me when I played this compilation for the first time. The songs are timeless, and I was singing along with them with my first listen.
Move over 50 Cent!
Move over Britney!
Move over all of you "current" artists!
Make way for the true kings of music!
The Beatles are heading back to the top of the charts! And only 40+ years afer their first release!
I think this will be an easy prediction, don't you all agree?
Wow!
I've listened to the 5.1 DTS mix of this compilation 3 times already, and if you can't tell by now, I love it!
An amazing compliation it is, too.
For those of you "Beatle fanatics" that aren't too sure of this "mix", give it a try. What you'll find is that the songs primarily are intact. But with the added intros and endings on each, it all comes together as one "really big show!"
George and Giles Martin have done an excellent job in putting the "pieces" together to make one fluid "show". It's like a SUPER encore performance of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band. And what a show it is!
Don't miss it! The price of this set is well worth the price of admission.
I wanted it to go on and on even longer than it is.
The music is so crystal clear and the bridges between songs so original, it makes for one amazing show!
Free Music Review: Take a sad song and make it better! Hit: 5 Stars
The real stars of this one are not the Beatles but the Martins!
Father and son producer team George and Giles have done such a brilliant job "mashing" the Beatles work that you really start to believe it's the lads themselves who are all alive and well and back together and decided, "Hey, let's have a laugh and do a live show in Vegas where we deliberately mess about with the arrangements!"
The end result is not unlike the experimentation from the Sgt. Pepper and Abbey Road albums (music played backwards, medleys, segues and whatnot) so this is PERFECTLY in keeping with the Beatles' well-known eccentric sense of humour.
Above all, IT WORKS, astonishingly well. Stuff like combining Come Together with the backing of Dear Prudence actually gives the Fabs a harder, tighter, more symphonic, more rocking sound than they did before. And, believe me, if you're not up dancing at such ingenious medleys as Drive My Car/What You're Doing/The Word and Revolution/Back In The U.S.S.R., there's something terribly wrong with you. There I was, a grown man, going "This is SO COOL!!"
Anyway! This is infinitely preferable than another boring old greatest hits collection. If you want a FUN alternative to your usual Beatles listening experience, this is it. An upbeat, refreshing, uniquely creative achievement. And remember...this project originated with George Harrison. Can't get much more legit than that!
Free Music Review: Adrift in a Dream Hit: 5 Stars
If you've avoided this disc as I did because the idea seemed wrong, fear not. This is an exquisite experience. What convinced me was a friend sending me the combined Within You Without You/Tomorrow Never Knows cut, which caused my jaw to drop to the floor. The hair stood up on the back of my neck. Simply astonishing. Words fail.
So I bought the CD/DVD set and have been swimming through it for the past week, totally delighted.
The key is to simply accept it as a dreamscape, and go with it instead of trying to critique it at every turn. Just drift. Just let it wash over you.
Quite seriously this is how the Beatles catalog would sound if the listener were on LSD. A few of you reading this will understand what I mean. It's high praise.
I'm turning 55 soon and it struck me today that I've been listening to the Beatles since I was 12 years old. Through the magic that I doubt any of us truly understands, no person, faith or fact has ever meant more to me or stayed in my heart so fully as have the Beatles. I know, it even sounds crazy to me... but it's true and I'm eternally greatful.
A surprisingly moving album, I think the serious fan may find it deeply emotional, if only upon the encapsulated realization of the immensity of this music and its influence on our lives.
George and Giles - you did a wonderful job. Thank you.
