Free Music Notes for LoveFree Music Review: best release since the brake up Hit: 5 Stars
When I first heard the CD was being made I thought ok this just another Beatle 1 or Anthology which I found boring and stall since I own all the original albums on CD and some on vinyl as well. After reading the story behind the Album, I took a change and bought it. All I can say is "Wow what an album" then I let my mother listen to it who has been into the Beatles since day 1 and she was blown away and wants a copy for Christmas.
I have read a lot of the reviews here and find that some people are not judging the music fairly. You may dislike Jackson, Yoko and even Paul but I don't think this really is something needs to be discussed when reviewing an Album. In the case of realties I really don't think that's the reason they did this, because Michael is the only one needing money and with all the pirated copy out there none of then will make that much. Get over it.
As for releasing it just before the holidays that the way it's been since the beginning and that the way it always will be. Leave it at that!
For the people who say they could have made this with a computer and mp3s, I would love to see you try it way harder then it looks. Even if you could, your copy will never sound be as good as using masters like George Martin did.
And finally for the Tool who said he is would rather have them re-master the catalog them this, all I have to say is get a life. If you are like me and own all the studio albums from 87 releases, you will most likely not re-buy all the albums again. Even if you do buy all of the re-mastered you better have a $5000 speaker system or you will never really hear the difference.
I think you all should be happy with anything that sounds fresh and new because this is the only way it will even happen again.
Free Music Review: Are you kidding?? Hit: 5 Stars
Wow, What a job by Sir George Martin (the 5th Beatle) and son Giles! Remember people this is a THEATRICAL SOUNDTRACK for the alien performers of Cirque Du Soleil. The story of how the concept evolved is a great story in itself starting with George Harrison's personal friendship and common iterests with Guy Laliberte' the founder of Cirque Du Soleil. And later embraced by surviving band members and families of band members unfortunatly not here to see this wonderful project come to life. Now for the music. I have been an audio entusiast most of my life. I own many original Beatles pressings as well as both the complete Japanese Beatle Box LPs and the complete Mobile Fidelity box LP collection. I actually do not even own "Beatles Love" on CD...yet! I do however own it on limited edition LP. The sound quality and mix by Sir George Martin and son Giles is sonically way beyond all I have ever heard before on any of the other very desireable LP collections I have mentioned above. While being certainly familiar with the music I sat captivated as a child waiting to hear what is going to amaze me next. The breath of new life and excitement cast into these classics heard by most people on our planet (and maybe other planets) many times and engrained into our heads and beings has jumped to a new level. I can not remember the last time a "sound scape" of any kind, either produced as a music album or a theatrical soundtrack has sparked the shear emotion of great listening pleasure. I echo most of the reviews I have read here and say "Don't go out and buy this, RUN out and buy it! I will be puchasing the CD so I can use it in my car and ipod. But in closing, get hip to the analog vinyl version its another level of the pleasure this music offers.
Free Music Review: Be Not Afraid Hit: 5 Stars
I am a HUGE fan of The Beatles, and the very idea of this album sent me into a whirlwind of anxiety. How could the most beautiful and accomplished body of work in pop music possibly be improved by "mixing" and "editing"? But now, having heard it, I realize there was no cause for concern. The Martins didn't improve the music of The Beatles; that would be impossible. But they didn't destroy it, either. What they did was present it in a different language, if you will, by amping-up the bass, making the drums heavier, adding string fillers, creating sound effects, cleaning up the original sound until it is crystal clear, and, of course, cutting and pasting individual vocal and instrumental lines of the existing tracks to form new vocal and instrumental lines. Another thing: by stringing a lot of the tracks together without breaks, they formed larger bodies of music which resemble the movements of, um, what would Diana Ross call it? "...a SYM-phony!" I can't imagine that anyone who likes Beatle music would not like this CD, but I guess there are those who just want it left as it is. For those who are not familiar with the original music, it's hard to say. They might not "get" it. On the other hand, they just might consider it one of the most strange and awesome things they have ever heard. For me personally, it is like the deification of The Beatles. The treatment lovingly applied by the Martins makes the music all the more grandiose than it already was. That might be overkill for some people, but I like drama, and this to me is an album on a celestially dramatic level. And I have to say this - is there a vocal more flawless than John's on "A Day In The Life"? If there is, I haven't heard it yet...
Free Music Review: Love the Beatles Hit: 5 Stars
After listening to every Beatle track countless times I'm very grateful to have something that is both Beatles and NEW to listen to! What a wonderful treat; what a gift!
IF you can accept the concept of a Beatles musical montage, I don't see how such a thing could have been done much better. Some would have wanted ALL the tracks mashed up. But to me clever, creative, even brilliant manipulations abound. There are plenty of exciting and surprising juxtapositions to satisfy the craving for something new. AND, just enough of the music is left relatively untouched to satisfy the craving to hear good old Beatle music presented in extraordinary new sound quality (The surround-sound experience from the DVD is simply breathtaking).
Beatle music is concentrated stuff. Those guys could pack as many great musical ideas into three minutes as anyone before or since. In combining the brilliance of several songs into one, Love contains passages that manage to offer us music that is even more concentrated! What a rush!!!
One reason that music by composers such as Beethoven will never die is that each new generation of conductors can bring something new and different to those compositions. This keeps even ancient compositions alive and current. Love helps to keep Beatle music alive and current.
It is clear to me that Beatle music as the Beatles originally released it is ultimately superior. But Love gives us something NEW! (No small thing by my way of thinking.) And Love represents yet another golden nugget added to the Beatles superlative catalogue. There is nothing else like it. It is a unique testament to some of the finest music of the 20th century.
Free Music Review: The Very Best from The Very Best Hit: 5 Stars
I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show on February 9, 1964 and have been passionate about their music ever since.
This is one of the most exciting releases from the greatest group of all time! This is the ultimate treat for Beatle fans. Non-fans will enjoy it, too, but they won't understand the excitement. As for the purists who will likely find the whole thing offensive, if you don't like the concept, you don't have to listen.
Sir George Martin and his son Giles have taken the classic Beatles catalog and turned it on its ear. This is a good thing!!!! They have pasted different elements of songs together to create something new and exciting.
The way the different songs meld so seamlessly is just astonishing. Listen to the strings from Good Night as Ringo sings "I'd like to be under the sea" and the sound effects from Yellow Submarine can be heard in the background. This brought tears to my eyes. Hear Drive My Car meld into What You're Doing and then The Word.
Listen to the stunning harmony of Because. Magical!!! Marvel at how an instrumental passage from Blackbird connects to Yesterday.
I am absolutely blown away. This is beautiful and amazing. What a magnificent gift this is to the lontime fans whos will discover things they have never heard before.
I am not an audiophile but I suspect the Martins have worked on the sonic quality of these recordings. In over forty years this music has never sounded so crisp and clear to my ears.
Beatlemania lives on! Thanks to Sir George, Giles, Paul, Ringo, Olivia, Yoko, and John and George!!!!!! Brilliant!!! What a great time to be a fan!!!
