Free Music Review: Great collection of Early Beatles Songs

This is a terrific collection of Beatles singles and EP tracks. Some reviewers have complained about the sound quality, but they all sound terrific to my ears. I enjoyed the silly German versions of She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand, and it is fun to be able to listen to them again.Some of my favourite Beatles songs appear on this CD:
I'll Get you features John's raucous voice, and also lets you hear him singing down the bottom of his range. I enjoy the harmonies, but also the mistake that was left in. Can you spot it? One singer sings
"Well there's gonna be a time, when I'm gonna make you mine"
while the other sings
"Well there's gonna be a time, when I'm gonna change your mind"
which makes the end of the line sound like "when I'm gonna mange your mind."
This Boy is a fun song to perform and a great example of The Beatles' growing maturity in singing vocal harmony.
Yes It Is is another great vocal harmony song, even though it has always sounded a bit Desafinado in places.
Long Tall Sally is Paul at his most raucous: a wonderful tribute to Little Richard, the composer and original singer.
I Call Your Name features a great Lennon vocal and also very effective back up vocals. I also love the middle 8 which changes tempo so cleverly. (Check out the Mamas and the Papas' interesting arrangement of this song.)
Slow Down is a great song, and is sung amusingly and effectively by John. I first heard this song on the old Beatles cartoon series. Still love it.
I Feel Fine is another great song to perform, but nobody has ever beat John's earnest, strident vocal.
She's A Woman has an interesting rhythm guitar introduction, which sounds like it is on beats 1 and 3 until you discover it is on beats 2 and 4 after the the rest of the band and the vocal part begins. I would love the piano part to be a little more prominent than it is on this mix.
Bad Boy is another song I first heard on The Beatles cartoon series. It is another fun song, sung so urgently and stridently by John.
Wonderful collection. Highly recommended.

This is a great Beatles album. It has all four tracks from the "Long Tall Sally" EP. "I Call Your Name" and many others here are not available (at least not yet) on any other Beatles CDs, which is a good reason to get this one. The clean studio recordings of "Thank You Girl," "I'll Get You," "I'm Down" "Yes It Is" and "She's a Woman" are ONLY on this CD. Plus, it is a great look into The Beatles' early singles and EPs. The liner notes are good, too, telling when each song was recorded, and the single or EP it was on. This is an essential Beatles album.Free Music Review: A quick note

yeah, it's a great compilation, of course, but the killer tune is the cover of Little Richard's "Long Tall Sally." the song was done in a SINGLE TAKE, it's virtually a "live" recording, and for my money it's the greatest rock performance ever captured on vinyl. call me nuts, but i think it's true.Free Music Review: Currently one of my favorites...

I remember hearing this album in my mother's collection when I was like 12 and being scared off by the German versions. But after buying the CD, especially for the song "Yes It Is," I am hooked. Since the old LP's are not identical to the newer CD releases, "Yes It Is" appeared on Beatles VI, which is now obselete. (This may explain why there are seemingly out of place songs on CD's; those songs were probably taken from other, out of print LP's). This album is also great for such rockers as Long tall Sally and I'm Down, a personal favorite that showcases Paul McCartney's vocal abilities (doing his Little Richard imitation). I have just purchased Past Masters 2 and can't wait to get it.

TO THELL THE TRUTH, THERE REALLY IS KNOW REALLY COMPLETE STORY CD THAT I'VE HEARD OF. BUT 2 HISTORICAL RECORDINGS ARE FEATUREED. THEY ARE THE GERMAN VERSSIONS OF "I WANNA HOLD YOUR HAND:, AND "SHE LOVES YOU". SOME OF THE OTHER SONGS ARE SOME OF MY FAVORITES AS WELL.ALSO TRY
