Free Music Notes for Revolver [UK]

Free Music Review: Amazing and Important
Hit: 5 Stars

Most bands would be overjoyed to have written/recorded half of the incredible songs on this album/CD. My personal favorite Beatles song is featured on this amazing masterpiece; Here, There, and Everywhere.

This is a 5 star musical experience. I am not as well-versed in forward or backward guitar playing or recording, nor the first use of Sitars in a Beatles album; however, as with any good art, I know what I like. And Revolver is as fresh and vibrant today as it was when I first heard it as a boy listening to my Mom's LP collection.

Free Music Review: A musical journey filled with color, life and beauty.....
Hit: 5 Stars

REVOLVER is, quite simply, one of the most beautiful albums, by The Beatles, that I have ever had the pleasure to hear. Ringo, Paul, John and George are at their best here. The instrumental arrangement is tight, the vocals are smooth and the songs are totally infectious and memorable. There are a slew of hits, here, including "Taxman," "Eleanor Rigby," "Yellow Submarine," "Good Day Sunshine," and "Got To Get You Into My Life." The imagery in the lyrics is just great. If I was really going to analyze all of it, I would need room for a novel, here! What I will say is that The Beatles' signature combination of quirky irony, poetry, double entendre and clever social commentary is really showcased at its best here. Awesome!

Free Music Review: Waited too long for c.d. copy
Hit: 5 Stars

This was my first Beatles album, which I received on vinyl as a Christmas present the year it was released. I'm very pleased to have a copy on c.d. to listen to now, and enjoy picking out the "bits" that were used on the newer "Love" album that I've bought recently, also. Some Beatles songs have gotten old and hoary to me, but Revolver still "does it"!

Free Music Review: TODO UN DISCAZO!!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Free Music Review: The Beatles Revol-ution
Hit: 5 Stars

To call the Beatles' 1966 album "Revolver" a masterpiece is nothing new. But the album is what it is---a masterpiece. John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison & Ringo Starr demonstrated with this release the genius pop/rock that can come from the marriage of memorable songwriting, skillful performance, AND outstanding studio experimentation. You can hear the Fab Four continue to evolve on these world-class tunes. All the Beatles shine on this one: Lennon's whimsical "I'm Only Sleeping," the jangly rockers "She Said She Said," "And Your Bird Can Sing," "Doctor Robert," and the outstanding, far-out-man, psychedelic trip of "Tomorrow Never Knows" (a truly groundbreaking track that foreshadows where the band would go next). McCartney contributes the haunting "Eleanor Rigby" (augmented by an equally haunting string section), the lovely ballads "Here There & Everywhere" and "For No One," the memorable sing-along kids tune "Yellow Submarine," the upbeat "Good Day Sunshine," and the R&B winner "Got To Get You Into My Life" (capped off by a great brass section). Harrison gets a rare trio of tunes instead of the usual pair, and they're all top stuff too: the dirty guitar-rocker "Taxman," the sitar-driven "Love You To" (George's first foray into Middle-Eastern musical territory), and the fun "I Want To Tell You." Meanwhile, Ringo gets a classic lead vocal on "Yellow Submarine," and delivers what is arguably his single finest moment on the drums on "Tomorrow Never Knows," smashing his kit with everything he's got. I love the band's studio wizardry on display here too, including the various tape loop effects on "Tomorrow Never Knows," and the "nautical" sound & vocal effects on "Yellow Submarine." "Revolver," of course, paved the way for "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band," and many consider "Revolver" to be the Beatles' "practice run" for "Sgt. Pepper," as they were just starting to explore the musical possibilities that would become fully flowered on "Pepper," but "Revolver" is a landmark work all on it's own. It's a Beatles masterpiece, but you knew that already.
