Free Music Notes for With The Beatles (Remastered)Free Music Review: BEATLES: The Earlier, the Better ? Hit: 5 Stars
"With The Beatles" was the first step in producing the Beatles more artificially ? It was the change from Beat to Pop ! Comparing all the Beatles`Albums I must say, from the depth of my heart:
"Please, Please Me" is the best and most true Album, the Beatles ever had recorded ! You can hear a very fresh, young and soulful kind of music-making ? It was the creative kind of George Martin(Thanks), to produce this LP quasi as a live-LP in the studio, because of only little time and a low budget. So the Sound was getting very more fundamental(bass-drum, drum-breaks and the more rough kind of their singing, than on the later , more technical LP-productions. That was the excellent way to play the real cool Mersey-Beat, but in a high niveau ! That`s why, "I saw her standing there" had become t h e e BEAT-HYMN of all , not to talk about "Twist and Shout" ! But don`t forget "There`s a place","Baby it`s you" and "Taste of Honey" ? And what about "Chains" and "Misery"? That was the time, when the Beatles had to fight for acceptance and fame, showed, and everyone could feel then their big heart and much fun , in making Music, Music and Music !
So I have more fun to listen to this LP, than to "Seargeant Pepper", wich seems to be only technical work ? So it`s no wonder, that The Beatles tried to catch that early spirit of making Rock-Music, when they started the "Get Back/Let It Be" Album ??? But the spirit had already flown away !
But last not least, there shall be no doubt: I like all the Beatles music !
But I like some more and some less, whenever I differ ! If I had to go to live alone on an island and I could only take one record of the Beatles with me, I would take the LP "Please, Please Me"
with me !
Free Music Review: Good for America Hit: 5 Stars
This record came out in November 1963 and because my dad was in the record business I got it just before Christmas and I was as blown away by it as I was with Please, Please Me. I had pretty much memorized ever line of every song on this record by the time the American version, "Meet the Beatles" came out late in January, 1964, which had a different running order and included the new number one song, "I Want to Hold Your Hand". which wasn't on this record. After I wore out my copy of this record, it would be the American version that I'd be playing for years to come and, of course, for years I've had "I Want to Hold Your Hand" in my iTunes playlist.
This record was huge, mega huge. By now the Beatles really had taken the world by storm and I'd been waiting for the release, knowing my dad would get it for me from England before it came out in America. But I had other stuff on my mind, as did the rest of the world, on that said day of Novermber 22, 1963 when this record came out, for that was the day President Kennedy was shot dead in Dallas.
This record helped me through the grieving as I'm sure it did for so many others, for in a time of horrible sadness, songs like, "All My Loving," "I Wanna Be Your Man," and "I Want to Hold Your" hand were playing on the radio, lifting our spirits. This record came out at exactly the right time. It was good for me, good for my friends, good for America. This is not only one of the best records to come out in 1963, it's one of the best records of all time.
Free Music Review: Please Please Me with This CD! Hit: 5 Stars
Listening to "With the Beatles" remastered was a beautiful experience, especially through headphones. I could really hear a dramatic difference between the remastered version and the 1988 original CD of "With the Beatles."
For one thing, the remastered version is in two-channel stereo, rather than the mono of the original CD. So was the original "Meet the Beatles" American version of the LP that I bought and listened to so avidly back in 1964. It was great to hear that music in stereo once again. And so clear! I felt I was in the studio engineer's booth, listening to a "live" performance on studio monitoring headphones.
The final song, "Money" is offered in full stereo, something never heard previously.
There is also a fascinating little video where you see the Beatles at the time they were making the album, and they actually talk about making "With the Beatles "
The photos and liner notes that come with the disc are superb.
I plan to add at least two more remastered CDs in this series to my collection because I was so pleased with the new "With the Beatles" package, even though I already own all the Beatles titles on the 1988 CDs.
My suggestion would be to pick out your favorite Beatles album, purchse the remastered version from Amazon.com (good price!), sit back, relax, and listen, especially if you've got headphones (and I don't mean ear-buds) to enhance the experience.
I don't see how you could go wrong.
Free Music Review: I own this (the single CD, not from the box set) Hit: 5 Stars
I actually own this exact product. I also own the older CD of this album and it was thin sounding. There is a strong improvement. It is in particular with the instrumentals, from my ear. There is still distortion in the vocals and I think that is as good as it gets.
I love the songs on this album. It's always fun to listen to it. That's subjective. Its just good energy. This album is in Stereo (I understand this disc from the box set is in the original mono mix, yes?) and it follow the old idea of Stereo mixing (vocals on the right). That makes it authentic for the approximate period but it makes it odd to listen to in a car (obviously because you are sitting by the left speakers when driving and if you balance it for you, the passenger suffers). So, it has a novelty aspect some might not like. I understand. It just doesn't bother me that much and is actually kind of fun when you can almost completely isolate the vocals or the instrumentals .... Karaoke anyone? A little high for my range in my dotage.
I had a problem where this disc (and the another remastered disc I bought) would not play on my PC but it was the drive on this stupid Dell. I had someone swap out the drive. It wouldn't even open and when I look in the drive itself, it looks like a blank disc. NOW FIXED... again, had to swap out the DVD drive. The bad drive was TSST corp DVD+RW TS-L532B
Free Music Review: Waited 22 years, they got RIGHT... Hit: 5 Stars
When EMI and the Beatles decided to release their wonderful music to CD back in 1987, I was a happy camper. Then when the first four British release were in Mono, I was sad. It was kinda ironic. MEET THE BEATLES had "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "This Boy" were 'electronic rechannel' stereo, and the rest of the album was in true stereo. If the die-hard Beatle fans wanted to create there version of MEET THE BEATLES from CD's, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" and "This Boy" were in true stereo, and the rest of the songs were in mono. That's what I call BACKWORDS!
As time went by, I was hearing about Mobile Fidility Sound Labs (MFSL). People who had the Beatles MFSL (released in 1978), burned them to their CD-R's, and capturing the Best Stereo Sound of The Beatles I have ever heard in my life. I compared the WTB 2009 Remasterd and the WTB MFSL CD-R and it is Very Close. The channel seperation was a little better on the MFSL CD-R, while the 2009 Remaster has a few of the songs lasting a 'half a second' to a second longer. Very Tight.
Anyway, after 22 years of waiting of the official release of their cataloge is long over due. I'm extreamely happy that EMI brought the First Four in Stereo to light. I don't have PLEASE PLEASE ME, A HARD DAYS NIGHT & BEATLES FOR SALE yet, but I will soon and I will review them as well. 5 Stars for WITH THE BEATLES 2009 Remastered.
