Free Music Notes for The Best Little Whorehouse In Texas: Music From The Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: After 20 years I finally saw this movie from start to finish Hit: 5 StarsIn 1982, when this film was released, I had just graduated from high school. Just last week (April of 2002!), I finally watched the film from beginning to end. I LOVED IT!!! This soundtrack is an amazing addition to this wonderful film. Dolly and Burt are perfect together, and Dom is hysterical as the over-zealous crusader! This CD is perfect if you need a quick pick-me-up on your drive in to work, or even to help you forget your lousy day on your drive home. Buy it! Listen to it! And most of all....ENJOY it!!!
Free Music Review: Best Little Country CD Ever Hit: 5 StarsThis movie & this soundtrack are just two of the most exceptional things ever. The music from this movie perfectly captures the fun of the screen & Dolly's great presence & chemistry with Burt Reynolds. The cd captures old Texas from the honky tonk of 20 fans (totally uplifting) to Dolly's fine performances of Little Bitty Pissant Country Place to that Classic I Will Always Love you - still gives me shivers. Her voice is so sincere. There's a fantastically catchy duet with Burt called Sneakin Around. 3 other highlights are The Watchdog song - one of the movie's funniest moments, then hilarious Sidestep (the ooohs are funny). Proabaly the stealer for me is Hard Candy Christmas. One of the movie's most poignant moments & I am getting shivers as I'm typing. The harmonies are sooo good. This movie holds special memories for me & I love watching my mum laugh as she watches it (she's been a Dolly fan since pussy was a kitten). This cd gives me a synopsis of the fun & pleasure that the movie has given me ove rthe past 20 years & just reminds you how fun Dolly Parton is.
Free Music Review: Good movie, great soundtrack... Hit: 5 StarsI am not a fan of country music, but for some odd reason I have never been able to resist Dolly Parton's pretty voice. This is a unique role for such a sweet-natured lady, but she pulls it off just fine. The songs "Hard Candy Christmas" and "I Will Always Love You" show just how great Dolly is at singing. I also like the governor's song and the Aggie boys' naughty tune. You won't regret buying this cd. It is more fun than a barrell of hookers. A+
Free Music Review: Smoky and the Bandit go to the Whorehouse Hit: 3 StarsIf you want to blame anyone for the movie- blame Burt and/or the Hollywood suits who, to quote Fobidden Hollywood, "change all the songs to the writer's alarm/then drag out the pace and all but erase the lyrical charm". Set your CD player to only play the songs that feature Dolly and remember that there is no bushel big enough to hide her light.
Free Music Review: Hard Candy Dolly Hit: 3 StarsWell, for many of us this movie represented just about all that went wrong with Dolly's career in the "crossover" phase. It's gauche, and just about everything in it falls on the wrong side of the fence separating "coy" and "camp." But the cd has two classic Dolly songs on it: "Hard Candy Christmas," and "I Will ALways Love You." Fans of Whitney's rather overblown cover of the latter should treat themselves to Dolly's enthralling version. This was my favourite Dolly song for years before it made the Muzak Circle of Eminence. "Hard Candy Christmas" is a perfectly mournful ballad. I do own this cd, but that's because I am an avid Dolly fan. If you're interested in Dolly at her best, I'd suggest you avoid this cd and get yourself a greatest hits that includes these two wonderful songs.
