Free Music Review: Reason for no Creedence.....

The reason there's no CCR on here probably has something to do with publishing rights. For a long time Fantasy Records (read:Saul Zantz) wouldn't give Fogerty any money cuz he'd been trapped in some bad contract. I'd suppose the Coen's might have run into some trouble with whoever's currently owning the songs (Saul Zantz?) as well.One shouldn't nitpick too much though-- this is a GOOD soundtrack....and if you like CCR well, Jesus (That's right, mang!) you shoulda bought all the albums by now, folks. It's almost 2000. I see a lot of people buying this also bought Rushmore, too. VERY, very highly recommended. Slightly better movie, slightly better soundtrack (not to bag on Lebowski).

This album is just like a Coen Bros. film. There's Coen Bros. "Good" and Coen Bros. "Great!" This is Coen Bros. "Great!" Eclectic. Unexpected. And that's what one should expect from them. From Bob Dylan's "The Man in Me" to "Gluck Das Mir Verblieb" from the opera "Die Tote Stadt" to Townes Van Zandt's "Dead Flowers", this cd is perfect for those who appreciate a broad variety of musical stylings. If you're pretty open minded and a fan of the Coen Bros.' you'll love it. If you follow what pop culture tells you what to think, stay away. Thanks, Joel, Ethan, and Carter. The best movie of all time!! The soundtrack however was so lacking in movie quotes and the two important Creedence songs. So I would suggest that people buy this CD and like I did, rip the soundtrack, add the Creedence, mix in a few classic movie clips, mix up a white Russian for yourself and friends...sit around and have a Big Lebowski party!! The soundtrack that I remixed is so popular that when I throw a party everyone is always asking me to, "Hey Dude put on that Big Lebowski soundtrack you made....It's just so...DUDE"

This soundtrack is quite good but it does drag quite a bit. Songs like "Technopop" by Burwell and the opera track could have been avoided while "The Walking Song" and the Gypsy King's mariachi-style cover of "Hotel California" add to the goofy moodiness that inhabits the film. There are some truly essential songs also, like the Dylan opener and Townes Van Zandt's melancholy cover of The Rolling Stones "Dead Flowers".Free Music Review: So it has some holes in it....still worth having

While I agree with some other comments that this sound track has some holes (no Creedence, and no Tumbling Tumbleweeds) it still is worth having. It has all the more obscure music that I find entertaining in the movie, and having "What Conition my Condition is In" and the Latin heat of the Gypsy King's version of "Hotel California" aren't to be missed. Go for it, you Achievers.
