Free Music Review: The Best of The Crowes

If you are going to buy one Black Crowes album, make it this one. This is the Black Crowes at their best. This is a masterpiece along the lines of dark side of the moon, Thriller, or Achtung Baby. Every song on this album is noteworthy, but the standouts in this order are:
1. Somtimes Salvation
2. Bad Luck Blue Eyes Goodbye
3. Hotel Illness
4. Thorn in my pride
5. Remedy
This is not in order of hard hitting, or makes you want to sing along with. Those distinctions go with Remedy, no doubt. But they are in terms of songwriting. Listen to the first two with a wide open mind, and listen to the lyrics. Incredible. They are singing about some f'd up relationships and it's powerful stuff. The fact that they are awesome blues/rock arrangements is secondary. Listen to these tracks hard, and wonder at the way Chris nearly wrecks his vocal cords on Sometimes Salvation, and you'll realize that he's putting 100% of himself into the song. Truly impressive.
