Free Music Review: What Was The Movie About?
Hit: 4 Stars

It as meant to be a comedy,. It was also meant to "maintstream" the blues culture, and it worked.

There are many people in the United States who think, in fact, that "the blues" is what they heard in this film twenty-plus years ago.

In fact, the film and the film's music is a cartoon. It is a commercial celebration of the blues, but it is not the blues at its most fundamental.

Enjoy it anyway! It's like a great Warner Brothers cartoon version of the blues, and it's impossible to hate. If you want real blues, though, buy "Martin Mull and his Fabulous Furniture in Your Living Room." He explains everything, as he was taught by the great blues master Blind Lemon Pledge.

Free Music Review: The Blues Brothers
Hit: 5 Stars

I bought this cd and I was not disappionted. Since I have got on Wedensday, I've listened to it 3 or 4 times. The only downer is that Stand By Your Man that they sung in Bob's Country Bunker is not on here as that is one of my favorite songs from the movie. Aside from that the cd is perfect. It's great to dance around to and listen to Dan and John do their stuff. The album explodes with great songs and guest singers including Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, and Cab Calloway. If your in the mood for the Blues or you just want to have some fun order this and you won't be disappionted.

1. She Caught the Katy-10/10 Great opening to the cd and showcases Jake's talent. Great vocals and Eldwood is great on the 'harp'.
2. Peter Gunn Theme-9/10 The Band sounds awesome on this track. it does run on a bit long though.
3. Gimme Some Lovin'-8/10-This is not one of my favorites on the cd but it is enjoyable to listen to and dance along to. Jake does great on it.
4. Shake A Tail Feather-10/10 Ray Charles guest stars on this track and is excellent. The band plays some good music and Jake and Elwood are enjoyable on this.
5. Everybody Needs Somebody to Love-8/10 Pretty good. It's fun to listen to.
6. The Old Landmark-6/10 This song doesn't really match up to the other tracks on here but it is nice to listen to.
7. Think-9/10 Arthea Franklin makes an appearance on this one and is excellent. She has a great voice.
8. Theme From Rawhide-10/10 We finally get to hear Elwood do solo singing. He does very good and the song is entertaing to listen to and funny.
9. Minnie the Moocher-10/10 Cab Calloway appears on this and does awesome vocal talents. His song is one of the most enjoyable to listen to.
10. Sweet Home Chicago-10/10 Jake and Elwood co-sing on this track and are awesome! The song is very good and each of the brothers get to showcase their talent.
11. Jailhouse Rock-10/10 Awesome version of one of Elvis' most popular songs and is more upbeat.Jake sings this one and is excellent. Elwood is amazing on his harmonic and the rest of the band are of course brilliant.

Hit: 3 Stars

I was a bit disappointed to see that a lot of the music from the movie wasn't on the tape. However, what is on there is strictly top drawer.

Free Music Review: Classic Good Times
Hit: 5 Stars

This disc is a rockin' good time. She Caught The Katy will get you movin', Shake A Tail Feather will have you groovin', Think everybody loves some Aretha. The Theme From Rawhide says Blues Brothers's in so many ways. The last 3 in the set are great tunes as well. Minnie The Moocher, Sweet Home Chicago, and Jailhouse Rock they will keep a smile on your face.

Free Music Review: BLUES MOTHER!
Hit: 5 Stars

Probably as much, if not more fun, than the John Belushi/Dan Akroyd flick, which had its best moments via its high spirited musical interludes (and legendary guest stars Cab Calloway, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, and Ray Charles), THE BLUES BROTHERS movie soundtrack album contains surprisingly little in the way of actual blues. Not that it matters for a second. You DO get a genre-jumpin' grabbag of jazz (PETER GUNN), rock (GIMME SOME LOVIN' and JAILHOUSE ROCK, wailed out in ragged but right Belushi fashion), gospel (James Brown's sweaty testimonial THE OLD LANDMARK), country (THEME FROM RAWHIDE, which suits Akroyd's limited vocal ability to a tee), swing (Cab Calloway's signature hit MINNIE THE MOOCHER), and pure, unabashed soul (from the "Queen" and the "Genious" of it, Aretha and Ray). The bluesiest thing on here is a joyous eight minute workout of hoary classic SWEET HOME CHICAGO, though it's a pity the infectious EVERYBODY NEEDS SOMEBODY TO LOVE ain't quite up to Wilson Pickett's soul-shredding standards (the enthusiastic spoken word Akroyd intro almost makes up for it). This isn't JUST the soundtrack to a movie, it also works beautifully as the background to a road trip, beer blast, or dance party...in short, if you've got the blues, pop this baby in and watch 'em disappear faster than the Bluesmobile itself! RATING: FIVE PACKS OF SMOKES
