Free Music Notes for Blues Brothers - The Definitive CollectionFree Music Review: Mostly captures the Blues Brothers Hit: 4 StarsThis is an excellent Blues Brothers compilation that definitely shows them at their best. Excellent horns, nice guitar work, and vocals from the Blues Brothers make this album a must-have for any fan of the Blues Brothers movie.
There are a few tracks that definitely could have been substituted for a part of the soundtrack. "Jailhouse Rock" and "She Caught the Katy" should not have been left off this album but were for whatever reason. Still a very solid compilation.
Free Music Review: My favorite CD in a growing collection Hit: 5 StarsI really liked the movie "The Blues Brothers" not only because it was funny, but because the music was terrific. Most of the album was taped live from Los Angeles, and the rest is from the Blues Brothers original soundtrack. Not only were the Blues Brothers themselves good, but they were also great with Ray Charles singing "Shake Your Tailfeather". The best tracks on this CD, in my opinion, would be "Gimme Some Lovin'", "Sweet Home Chicago", and "Shake Your Tailfeather".
Free Music Review: Great fun ! Hit: 4 StarsThe Blues Brothers was the first R-rated move I ever saw. I was about 10 years old. I'm not sure what was more enjoyable, the movie itself, or knowing that my older sister was in a sh**-load of trouble for convincing my conservative parents that it was OK to let me see the movie. I've been a fan ever since.
The compliation contains all of Jake and Elwood's greatest hits (although I wish they had included She Caught the Katy). A good portion of this album was recorded live at the Universsal Amphitheatre in LA.
Jake and Elwood are an American treasure!
Hey, what do you want for nothing? RRRRRRRubber Biscuit?
Free Music Review: Good, But Better: Hit: 4 StarsEveryone raves about his album. It certianly deserves it. The Blues Brothers and their allstar band were a musical miracle, and everyone of their songs is precious. Buying one of their albums is getting a unheard of greatest hits album of Soul, R&B, and a few others mixed in to keep it interesting. But why settle for 20 songs when they released 35 or so? Buy Blues Brothers Complete (it's about 80% more expensive [$18 or so]) but well worth it, as this album is missing the funky She Caught The Katy, very well done Perry Mason Theme, the memorable Shotgun Blues and Groove Me (both underatted) and others to round out the complete set. Blues Brothers Complete can be found also on amazon.com where, that's your job to find out.
Free Music Review: Like Xeroxing a Monet Hit: 1 StarsI got the joke of the original Blues Brothers segments on "Saturday Night Live," and I do think that they should be credited with reviving interest in a genuine American art form. But rather than buying this album why not seek out the real deal -- the original versions of these songs which crush these frat boy keg party covers like an elephant stomping a grape?
