Free Music Review: Boogie Woogie Was Rockin' The House In The Late 1930s

This is a wonderful CD, and I am surprised that there is only one other review of the terrific Boogie-Woogie CD. I purchased this CD about 10 years ago, not really knowing what to expect from the sound. Some of the earlier Boogie that I have in my collection sounds as if it could use a lot of remastering. However, this CD rocks! The sound of Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson are really a delight to listen to. The first part of the track are live recordings, and as such, the sound suffers from it a bit. However, that is to be expected. Most of the recordings I have of Albert Ammons, Pete Johnson, and Meadu Lux Lewis [another great legendary Boogie Woogie player] are a bit rough in the sound department.
But don't let that detract you from purchasing these wonderful sounds. As the reviewer below has written, the music on the CD, is basically divided into three parts. With the first part a live performance of Albert Ammons. The middle part goes into Albert Ammons and Pete Johnson [great together] While the last part I found to have a better quality of sound. Some of my favorite tunes are, FOOT PEDAL BOOGIE, BARREL HOUSE BOOGIE, MOVIN' THE BOOGIE, CUTTIN' THE BOOGIE, JUMPIN' THE BOOGIE, and as mentioned below by the other reveiwer, the remake of FOOT PEDAL BOOGIE. All of these sounds are just great. I am looking forward to someone reissuing these remastered someday, as this is really wonderful music. I highly recommend the CD, as it's an important part of music history; but more importantly, the music is just great to listen to. Highly recommended!
