Free Music Review: Why is everybody ragging on The Boy from Oz?
Hit: 5 Stars

First of all, even though I didn't get to see the Broadway play, I feel that this CD gives you a good idea of what the play was like. Second, why does everyone rag on Hugh's singing? No, his voice isn't perfect but how many people's are? Give him the benefit of the doubt and just have fun with the music. I believe that is the whole point. Stop complaining and let Hugh as Peter take you on a wild and wonderful journey. Hugh falls into his character so easily and makes you want to step into Oz with him. After listening to this CD, I have fallen in love with Hugh again for different reasons. I didn't know that he had a background in musical theater and now I will be looking forward to more of his singing. I think people aren't giving him a chance. Please, stop ragging on him and just listen to the CD. Yes, I do happen to be a Hugh Jackman fan but I am SO glad that I bought this because of all the good music and performers. I would definitely recommend this for adults, not younger children because of the mature content.

Free Music Review: The Boy From Oz Turns into A Wizard
Hit: 5 Stars

After seeing The Boy From Oz I ran online to buy all of Peter Allens's CD's because I missed him that much. I had been a fervent fan of his for so many years and wanted fresh cd's of
him. I love everyone of them. But then I realized that I could listen to Hugh Jackman and feel the same way. And listening to the CD brought back all the wonderful moments of the play itself. I was amazed at just how much Hugh Jackman was Peter Allen. And how Isabel Keating was so Judy. And...Stephanie J. Block..Liza. If I closed my eyes their faces appeared before me. I found all the cast members to be excellent. But with all the great songs of Peter Allen and the new ones on the CD why wouldn't it be anything but fantastic. As you can see, there is no limit to the oohs and ahs I feel about this CD. Seeing the play was just wonderful, listening to the CD to recapture all the great moments, even better!!!!! I'm giving this CD to all my friends because I know that they will love it as much as I do.

Free Music Review: Wolverine as THE BOY FROM OZ?
Hit: 5 Stars

Amazingly, it works! :) Saw the Broadway production of THE BOY FROM OZ and thought Hugh was WONDERFUL as Peter Allen, as was the rest of the cast! I had purchased the cast recording before seeing the show and haven't stopped listening to it since. It's also set me on a "mission" to track down all of Peter Allen's albums (a few of which are hard to come by now - but I have come across several) so that I can experience the original recordings of these songs. Like Hugh, I only remember Peter from seeing him on TV and hearing him on the radio. He is sorely missed!

This album is something I HIGHLY recommend...regardless of being a Peter Allen fan, Hugh Jackman does Peter's songs justice! As does Stephanie Block, Isabel Keating, Jarrod Emick and Beth Fowler! Wonderfully put together and will definitely cause you to dance and sing along! :)

As Peter would always say: "IF YOU'RE GOING TO LIVE...LIVE!"

Free Music Review: Jackman sizzles in Oz
Hit: 5 Stars

I didn't know Hugh Jackman could sing until I saw him on the PBS production of "Oklahoma, " a program I would never have intentionally watched--been there, done that dozens of times--but I channel-surfed onto Jackman singing "Oh, What a Beautiful Morning " and I was hooked for the entire performance.

Even though "Oz" is poles away from "Oklahoma," content-wise and style-wise, Jackman is consistently superb in both: his voice is mesmerizing in its clarity and strength, and his charisma and emotion are apparent in each Peter Allen song, whether ballad or feisty samba/whatever...if only Allen had had such singing talent!

However, while Jackman's Oz co-stars, Ms. Keating and Ms. Block, obviously have beautiful voices, the affectations they adopted in attempting to mimic Judy Garland and Liza are so annoying that I skip their solos each time I play the album. Even so, I'll give the work a "5".

Free Music Review: Hugh and Isabel ROCK!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

I saw this show in NYC on fri. Aug.13th ! Even though I sat in the balcony, it didn't diminish any of the power coming from the major stars. Hugh Jackman was of course astounding, and Isabel Keating as Judy Garland was "DA BOMB!!" I always thought Judy Garland was a pretty talented lady, and left it at that. But Isabel Keatings' performance of Judy was so cool and touching that it made me,a rocker, cry like a freakin' baby! What a voice and what a beautiful lady. That's why I think Amazon reviewer(Elizabeth Vincentelli's) opinion is WAY off saying that stephanie(liza) and Isabel's (judy) singing like the characters they portrayed, was distracting.Their singing is FANTASTIC, heartfelt, and adds so much to the songs. In no way is ANY of the singing Distracting". Are you gonna portray Liza and sing like Stevie Nicks so you won't sound like Liza? Stupid. Anyway, I'm not a big musical theater soundtrack buyer, but RUN don't walk to buy this one!
