Free Music Review: Hugh Jackman: A Musical Theater Treasure
Hit: 5 Stars

One of the most amazing shows I've ever seen, period!!! Hugh Jackman is an absolute musical theater treasure and is so absorbed in the role you think, at times, that Peter Allen is guiding his movemens and his expressions. Jackman has a perfect voice for this role, and the supporting cast is no less talented. The talented ladies who performed the roles of Judy and Liza had courage that equaled their ability. I saw the show three times and was time and again grateful for its enormous energy, its love and sympathy for its principal characters and, finally, the music of Allen. When Hugh sings "Once Before I Go," the audience jumps to its feet to give him a standing ovation that lasts and lasts and lasts. You don't think it'll ever end. Even Jackman seemed stunned. I hope that someone has the good sense to release this show on DVD so the average theatergoer will have the opportunity to see this once in a lifetime performance!

Free Music Review: I Wanna Go To Oz ...
Hit: 5 Stars

Wow, why do people hate this show so much?
While i'll admit that it was deffinatly not the best show of the 2003-2004 season it was very good and so was Hugh Jackman. Isabel Keating and Stephanie J Block ae great as Judy Garland and Liza Minelli, respectivly, and so is the rest of the cast.
Standout songs include:

The Lives Of Me
Ny Name In Lights
Love Crazy
Only and Older Woman
Best That You Can Do
Don't Wish Too Hard
Come Save Me
Contential American
Quiet Please, There's a Lady Onstage
Not the Boy Next Door
Everything Old Is New Again
I Still Call Australia Home
Don't Cry Out Loud

The show itself isn't in the same vain as most broadway shows because it comes from Australia but that doesn't make it bad, infact it made it refreshing. but make up your own mind.

Free Music Review: WOW!!!!
Hit: 5 Stars

Fabulous! After being disappointed in so many Broadway recordings of late, this is the real deal. I had a show me attitude toward this one, but I loved it from the very first listen. A high octane, high energy show full of great tunes and numbers. I was never a big Peter Allen fan during his heyday, but I was only exposed to a few of his songs. I was surprised at the breadth and depth of his work on here. (Granted, he often worked with other lyricists). Havent seen the show, but if its as good as this recording, it has to be specactular. Isabel Keating sounds so much like Judy Garland its a little creepy. The whole cast, led by Hugh Jackman, is great. If you've only known Jackman from his movie roles, prepare to be bowled over. His version of Once Before I Go, alone is worth the price of the CD. Dont Miss This!! Tony, here we come!

Free Music Review: Incredible!
Hit: 5 Stars

I feel very lucky to have actually seen The Boy From Oz on Broadway, and even more lucky to have met Hugh Jackman himself after the show! The man is quite handsome and charming (not to mention good looking!!!) in person. Who would have thought that this man playing Wolverine from X-men would become a broadway star! He's one of those very few movie stars that can cross over from blockbuster hollywood actor to a broadway star. The show was excellent, and i was very excited to know that he won a Tony Award for his starring role. I wouldn't say that the play is the greatest broadway musical in the world, but it's one of the best that Broadway has had in a long time. I look foreward to seeing it again on Broadway to hear this wonderful music! But until then its great to enjoy the CD. Highly recommended!

Free Music Review: Dazzling Broadway Debut
Hit: 5 Stars

Hugh Jackman made an incredible debut as the legendary (if somewhat little known) Aussie singer songwriter. The problem with bringing this show to Broadway is that people basically remembered Allen for starring in the flop musical "Legs Diamond" (some of the songs are resurructed from that score) Although some somes are out of place and sung by the wrong character ("Don't Wish Too Hard was sung in the Australian production during Peter and Liza's wedding while Judy sings it here.
For future productions it should come later because it is a disco song.
And of course "The Best That You Can Do" was written in 1982)
Many of the "Ozalots" (the show's fans want it made into a movie. With Hugh's busy movie schedule and a possible return to Broadway while we'll have to see...
