Free Music Notes for The Boy from Oz (2003 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: The Best of Broadway Hit: 5 Stars
I have been going to Broadway since I was a young girl. I have seen many many shows. However, I have never witnessed a performance like that of Hugh Jackman. He lights up the stage. He is a wonderful actor, singer and dancer. Like in "Oklahoma" he becomes the character. He changes his voice to fit the character he is playing. As Curly in "Oklahoma" he sounded as if he was born there. As Peter Allen, he sings like Peter Allen. However, I must say, I lot better than Allen. I saw the show in April and I will be seeing it again in July. My fear is that he will become so popular in Hollywood, it will be years before he comes back to Broadyway. Please see the show. Once you see the show, you will love the cd. It brings the performance home.
Free Music Review: WONDERFUL!!! Hit: 5 Stars
As a Broadway musical addict, I like to select my favourite tracks of each musical I listen: one selection means that the musical is rather poor. Two selections means that at least it has paid the price. Three selections means that I've been rewarded for a good choice. Four to six selections means that the album is excellent. Well, for THE BOY FROM OZ I made 12 selections.
This CD is simply great. Technically flawless, the album contains great songs (including the famous "Arthur's Theme" The best that you can do) and some other famous tunes. Hugh Jackman surprises with his voice and the lyrics mean a lot.
This is Broadway at its very best, so if you are a Broadway show collector, this one should go into your library RIGHT NOW. Don't miss it.
Free Music Review: Hugh's magnificent! Hit: 5 Stars
Hugh is amazing in this show.. you just fall in love with him. Without even seeing the show, you can tell it has great energy and just sounds like such an amazing show. And i'm sure it does. I was a bit dissapointed that Mitchel David Federan (young peter allen) only got one song in the show. Because he is very very good in this too. Once Before I go brings a tear to your eye. Peter allen was an amazing man and hugh plays him perfectly.
This is a very good album, I was completely satisfied with it.
XMen fans will be suprised with this Hugh performance. But in a good way, well I hope. He brings out a big throaty broadway voice that you normally wouldn't expect of Hugh. He's perfect for this role! Well done Hugh!!
Free Music Review: Simply the Best Hit: 5 Stars
I have to admit I am a Hugh Jackman fan from way back, and was thrilled to be able to attend this musical in NYC. The CD is everything I hoped for and more. I purchased the Australian version more than one year ago, and have played it to death. I understand why some Australian fans of the Boy From Oz are a bit put out about the American version, but honestly if you could see Hugh Jackman on stage, he does your country more than proud. I believe he gives one of the most electrifying, honest and hard working performances ever seen. His voice is pure music to my ears and the rest of the cast are exceptional. This show is a definite must see!! I highly recommend both versions of the CD, they are both fabulous.
Free Music Review: Great Musical Performances Hit: 5 Stars
I have not seen the stage version of The Boy from Oz. But I had to get the CD after I heard how great Hugh Jackman is in the musical. And everything I heard is right, Hugh Jackman is really great singing in this musical. I really enjoyed his voice. And I really enjoyed the songs. My favorites were "Continental American". "Bi-coastal" and the finale "I Go To Rio".
I also enjoyed listening to the new versions of "Everything old is new again", "I Honestly Love You" and "Don't Cry Out Loud".
The musical numbers on this CD are really great. Anyone who is a fan of musical theatre, would enjoy listening to the CD.
