Free Music Notes for Last SplashFree Music Review: Close but no cigar Hit: 4 StarsA very very good album, that I have had since 1993. A more poppy, upbeat, fun album from Kim Deal and "the gang" though I still miss the Pixies. Most memorable songs on this CD are Divine Hammer (full of dirty dirty innuendo, gotta love it), Saints (my personal sing-a-long favorite, I also do an A+ air guitar), Cannonball (excellent track, very catchy, stays in your head), I Just Wanna Get Along (kinda mad, I find it's almost like Kim is going insane here), Roi (A hypnotizing near-instrumental track with a kind of surf-ish feel to it) and New Year (another great catchy fun song to sing along with in a convertable). This is a summer CD by the way. Don't listen to it near snow, it just ruins the fun.
Free Music Review: Real sound for real people. Hit: 5 StarsFast, funny and joyously hooky, Last Splash captures what alternative rock was supposed to sound like before it degenerated into plain-wrap radio mush.
Free Music Review: nectare pie Hit: 5 StarsAsolutely nectare album stuffed with weird innovative music and sound - from the beautiful melodies of "Invisible Man" to the infectiousness of "noaloha" to the weirdness of... well you get the idea - especially good are the Instrumentals "flipside" and "SOS" - and the love songs "Invisible man" and "Do you love me know?" - in fact it's all great - buy it and see for yourself! You may not love it at first but it'll grow on you - trust me.........
Free Music Review: Great, after hearing it a second time! Hit: 4 StarsStrangely, I bought this album when it first came out (around 1994) mostly because I loved the gorgeous album cover. At the time, the only song I really liked was "Divine Hammer." I put the CD away and didn't listen to it for years! Recently, I pulled it out again and was amazed at how great the whole CD sounded! I realized there was a genius at work here that I missed the first time around. Deep, shallow, fun and serious at the same time. It's fascinating! "Divine Hammer" is still my favorite pop-sounding track, but many other songs work too. You definitely will enjoy having this album!
Free Music Review: Last Splash makes a splash in alternative music upstream! Hit: 4 StarsIn 1993, there were a lot of girly grungy groups trying to thump out ear-piercing guitar licks and "Last Splash" has it all. It is a statement of ALTERNATIVE music. Not for all tastes, but it is a hummer to listen to after all the copycats out there. The Deal sisters crank out loud and noisy thrash enough to make your mother climb the walls. Play it LOUDER! Great album.
