There have been few like them. In the mid 60's, before The Beatles had even dreamt of Sgt. Pepper, the Byrds had sailed through the same psychedelic wonderland that would see their Liverpool peers scale such peaks. But the Byrds took a different view. While everything The Beatles did from 1967 was done with a certain sense of humour, the Byrds solemnly fused the melodic sighs with Beach Boys harmony and Dylan's lyrics.The results still sound astonishing. The luscious, lemon-scented melodies never let up for one second as they come at you in wild salvos of dazzling psychedelia and glorious jangles of Roger McGuinn's twelve-string.
