Put your GBV records away kids. As good as Pollard is, Dean Wells, aka The Capstan Shafts, has the goods--in spades. If you've never, then Environ Maiden is a great introduction. And then scout out the rest of his back catalog (very extensive, and nary a letdown in the bunch). And the Capstan Shafts are just starting to tour (officially debuted at CMJ in NYC in October 07), so if you get the chance, as good as the CDs are (and they're amazing), catch 'em live. You won't regret it--you won't forget it. That's a guarantee.
