This CD is hands down the greatest pop release of 2004.Nina Persson's violent lyrics, usually concealed and disguised by deceptively simple pop melodies, have come to the front and center on an album that is bittersweet yet beautiful. Highlights include the single "You're The Storm" in which Nina compares her lover to a soldier aiming to conquer her land. "And Then You Kissed Me" is a tragic, but lovely song that deals with spousal abuse...

And it hit me like never before
That love is a powerful force
Yes, it struck me that love is a sport
So I pushed you a little bit more
The must-have track here is "Please Sister", a ballad that would do the Cardigans proud. It is quite simply the best slow-tempo released in this new millenium. The album is worth this song along.
Overall, the Cardigans are a tragically underrated, overlooked band in the USA, best known for their #1 hit "Lovefool" from 1996. However, since then they have released 1998's Gran Turismo, a twisted, eerie electro-pop masterpiece, and now this, Long Gone Before Daylight. Do yourself a favor and pick both up today.
