Free Music Review: Sublime
Hit: 5 Stars

I've been interested in Gregorian chant for at least 35 years. Over the years, I have recordings of the chant on cassette & a couple on CD, but this is by far the best. I purchased it on the the strength of an article in the New York Times in late June/early July about the monastery and the recording of some of their daily chant that they had agreed to do; I almost never purchase things on the strength of the recommendation in an article/review. Clearly, the article was persuasive. This the most supple, sublime performance of Gregorian chant I have ever heard. I am not Catholic, but rather a Lutheran, while at the same time being a student of yoga. This recording speaks to the need to die to oneself in the praise of the Divine as recommended in Protestant Christian, Buddhist, and Hindu traditions. I would recommend this to anyone interested in an auditory representation of humanity's desire to connect with the Divine, especially someone looking for something that would aid devotion or meditation. This recording is utterly beautiful and conducive to facilitating an individual's pursuit of the Divine, notwithstanding my own less than perfect understanding of the Latin used in the chant.

Free Music Review: The monks in Ever After
Hit: 5 Stars

This is very, very beautiful. I feel very happy, at ease, and pleasant by the tranquility and simplicity of the unique instrument, the humans voice. The chanting makes me feel away from the desensitized world living in a place of heaven like Austria untouched by man's poison, a place that lives it's law of neutrality in peace and wholesomeness. Chant resembles and evokes a bit of, "The Sound of Music". Also the film, Ever After, the monks in the library in/of the study hall, the beautiful building upon the cliff overviewing the forest. Chant makes you think not of this world and of positivity. Think of people living simplistically in areas of unforeseen architectural beauty using their God given gifts living of Eco living with new age resemblance of God's (Yahweh) world, the earth restored to purity and unfathomable, divine, and dreamful beauty.

Peacefully and Humbly,

It is likely unknown to many that Gregorian Chant evolved out of the Jewish Temple liturgy of the time of Christ. Even without understanding Latin, listing to this chant prayerfully raises the heart, mind, and soul to God. The best description of the feeling this chant gives is softness. Everything is so smooth, calming, and peaceful. There are no bumps, nothing sharp, just peace. While people of various religious traditions can appreciate this music, it should especially be cherished by Roman Catholics, as it is our musical heritage. The documents of the Second Vatican Council state that "The musical tradition of the universal Church is a treasure of inestimable value, greater even than that of any other art," and that Gregorian Chant should be given "pride of place" in liturgical services.

Free Music Review: A good introduction to this type of music
Hit: 5 Stars

Chant Music for the Soul is meant to be just that. I suspect that the people who created what we call Greagorian Chant never thought that
everyday people would listen to Chant just to relax, or for pleasure.
I suspect that the Monks who are singing these works hope that the listener comes away feeling better, or at least different about things
in their lives. I can only hope that the monks will have a chance to
make a couple more CD's like this one. Some reviewer have complained about the recording of the bells, I personally enjoy them, Many religions
consider the sound of bells, like the chant to be a form of prayer. So I have no problem with the sound of the bells. I find this CD quite a pleasure to listen to and will find it a pleasure time after time.

Free Music Review: New Fan to Chant music!
Hit: 5 Stars

I must say, I'm in love, if I can say that....I'm here at work searching for some other music and some how this CD, just popped up, I open the 'listen to samples' and I must say, I am a 'NEW FAN'...I know nothing about 'Chant', its very relaxing, calming and spirtual, I feel like I can connect with my inner self, like I'm doing 'yoga' or something of the sort! I'm very intrigue and will be doing some history searching on 'Chant'! I would like to say, thank you God, for leading me in this new direction and different kind of music!

PSS...also, I would just like to post, I'm a 'young' black African-American woman, just wanted to share, no-intent.....:):):)

Good Day to All and happy listening....
