Free Music Notes for Combat Rock

Free Music Review: Forget the good music, we've got the bollocks!
Hit: 2 Stars

It sucks, get used to it! Rock the Casbah? BOLLOCKS! Should I Stay or Should I Go? Mediocre! Know Your Rights? An okay song. Straight to Hell? Actually a good song. THOSE ARE THE FOUR BEST SONGS ON THE ALBUM! Do yourself a favor: Get London Calling! The Legacy Edition, even. That's World's best album. This, is a load of crap.

Free Music Review: Good & Bad
Hit: 5 Stars

Although most tracks on this album are a little iffy, Know Your Rights, Should I Stay or Should I Go, Rock the Casbah, and Straight to Hell are worth the cost of the CD. Nice cover image, too.

Free Music Review: OH COME ON GET REAL...THIS SUCKS!
Hit: 1 Stars

Just because this sold loads doesn't mean that it's also good!
I can honestly tell you that i ve heard this album probably less than 30 times in the 6 years that i own it!Really uninspired music.Rock the casbah is the only decent track in here.
So,do yourselves a favour and don't buy this album. It's a total waste of money and time.Spend your money on LONDON CALLING and THE CLASH (1977)

Q magazine (one of the greatest music magazines(cough!cough!)) considers this a 4 star album.(OUCH!)

Free Music Review: Not your typical Clash album - but then what is?
Hit: 5 Stars

This is probably one of my favourite Clash albums, as a long-time, hard-core Clash/Joe Strummer fan. I would put it in with 'London Calling', and 'Super Black Market Clash' as the stuff that I still listen to avidly, all these years after I first heard them.

Famously put together as the band were tearing themselves to pieces (Pennie Smith observed of the weary Thailand cover shot that she could see the band falling apart before her eyes) - but then, so many groups produce their best work in such circumstances. To really piss of the purists, this is pretty much the Clash's Abbey Road.

'Straight to Hell' is arguably the best Clash song out there - cinematic, haunting and quite otherwordly. Sometimes credited with creating 'World Music', 'Hell's' blistering voodoo social comment and tribal wail are echoed in tracks like 'Car Jamming' and 'Ghetto Defendant'. For the latter, Beat Poet Allen Ginsberg trades verbal spars with Strummer, taking punk another few steps beyond what anyone could have originally conceived.

While I don't really care for the overrated singles 'Stay or Go' or 'Rock the Casbah', they put the Clash back in the public consciousness with a vengeance, something few would have predicted at the time.

While some might argue that this is not hard-line punk, the Clash were never really a punk band in the first place (any band with Mick Jones in it is going to be hard-pushed to live up to that kind of label). But this is probably their most interesting album - not afraid to push back the boundaries still further, while staying as true as possible to their original mission.

4 1/2 stars overall, cause a couple of tracks don't really make it. But any album with 'Straight to Hell' and 'Ghetto Defendant' on it deserves all the stars ya can throw at it.

Free Music Review: I love the freakin clash but
Hit: 2 Stars

The clash are one of the greatest bands of all time too bad that they were having so many conflicts and were almost completly leaving their punk roots. with the success of "train in vain" and "london calling" the band decided to return to something they could pretty well after realesing sadinista! which was ultimately just too ambitous a record. The best songs on here are "know your rights" and "straight to hell" everything else if horrible rubbish. Get this only to complete your collection. get everything else first and forget about cut the crap.
