Free Music Notes for From Here to Eternity: Live AlbumFree Music Review: I never thought I would hear The Clash like this again. Hit: 5 StarsOh, boys and girls what a treat we have here. Finally, an official live Clash album to brighten up your year - and not a day too soon. Despite being drawn from concerts between '79 and '82, "From Here to Eternity" hangs together like it was recorded yesterday. And it's awesome. The choice of tracks included, as well as the running order, will delight Clash fans and if this is your first Clash experience then you will be impressed, bowled over, knocked out and converted (in that order!). The live sound on the CD is crystal clear, sharp, and vibrant, capturing the energy and explosiveness of this most exciting of live bands - subtle and understated one minute, thuggish and belligerent the next, but always uniquely the Clash. Thankfully there are no major inconsistencies in sound quality between the various concert dates, giving the end product the seamlessness of a single live performance. The album hits you from the word go. Indeed, if opener "Complete Control" doesn't have you leaping around like you're a teenager again then it really is time to hang up the ol' Doc Martens for good. Highlights are "London Calling", "Career Opportunities", "Train in Vain" and a very cool sounding "Armagideon Time"......need I go on ? Special mention goes to a frenetic stampede through "City of the Dead". Nevermind all those Johnny-come-lately pseudo punk outfits, The Clash are the real deal and this album justifies their reputation. Buy it and enjoy !
