Free Music Review: WOW - An incredible live album!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm not usually a fan of live albums, but "From Here To Eternity" is a much-appreciated exception. Any one who doubts the Clash's greatness, needs only to hear this album. Yeah, I would like to have "Safe-European Home," "Bankrobber," and something else from "Sandinista!" on the album, and I could do without "Armigideon Time," but that's mere quibbling. The song selection is generally outstanding, the recording quality is as good as you could hope for in a live recording (strong and clear, while still sounding 100 % live), the energy is sky-high (Strummer on "Know Your Rights" or Jones on "Train In Vain," e.g.) and, to top things off, the Clash jazz their songs up just enough to make it fresh and compelling. I, in fact, PREFER a few of the songs on this CD to the originals (and I love the originals), including absolutely stellar versions of "White Man in Hammersmith Palais," "What's My Name," "Know Your Rights," "Straight to Hell," and "Guns of Brixton." I've always heard the Clash were amazing live, and this album proves it to me. Man, I wish I had been there!

Free Music Review: EXCELLENT
Hit: 5 Stars

THIS IS EXCELLENT,THE MAG 7 VERSION IS STUNNING,JUST WISH I WAS THERE AT THE TIME.THE ALBUM GIVES A TWIST TO THE ORIGIONAL TRACKS,EVEN LIVE ITS A TIGHT SOUND.STRAIGHT TO HELL TAKES OFF,STRUMMERS VOICE IS AT ITS BEST.

Free Music Review: Essential for Clash fans
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a great addition to the Clash catalog. Infact, I think I prefer some of these live versions to the studio ones. For example, I Fought the Law, The Magnificent Seven, Should I Stay or Should I go, and Straight To Hell sound much better here than in the original albums. I think the only reason why I give this album a 4 instead of a 5 is because they don't have all the songs I'd like to hear. The inclusion of Clampdown and Hateful would've been nice. I would've also wanted Jail Guitar Doors, Janie Jones, and Lightning Strikes (Not once but twice), among other songs... Oh well. I guess if I had my way, it would've ended up being a triple CD deal. Anyway, buy it fool!

Free Music Review: sing on tune you bastards
Hit: 5 Stars

It's a great album, long overdue. I loved the Clash, never saw them live. I prize this album, but wish even more that I saw this great band on stage.

Others have written with quibbles about some of the cuts. I don't agree every cut is strong. "Straight to Hell" is flat on the studio album here it shines. The CD is balanced sampling of a band that tried to change their sound on each album.

If the tapes exist, a case could be made for a double live CD set. One disc with the fury of 1977's Clash, one disc with the open-minded experimentalism of 1982's Clash.

Free Music Review: It's really lacking but is great still.
Hit: 5 Stars

This live album really is great but there are a few improvments to be made. First off the song selection seems to be a bit off. While it's great to hear Capital Radio and The City of the Dead, don't think Know Your Rights deserved a spot on here, it is a good song but it's not their best. Another thing they could have done regarding the song selection was putting out a 2CD set, that way they wouldn't have had to totally ignore Give em' Enough Rope, and for the most part Sandinista! Though the Magnificent Seven was a good choice *along with Joe's ranting at the end of it*. To many songs were left out I think such as- Safe European Home, Tommygun, Death or Glory, Clampdown, Junco Partner, Something about England just to name a few really. Though they did manage to put in some great songs, Clash City Rockers and Career Opportunites and White man in Hammersmith Palais sound just as good as the originals, in fact everything on here sounds great, the Clash seemed to put more into their live shows then a handful of bands I've seen today put together, and this sounds much better then a lot of those bands and even 20 years later! I've honestly listened to this album 100+ times. All in all this is a great album and any clash fan should buy it. The goods on this album do outweigh the bad, and this is this closest you can come to hearing the Clash played live today! So buy it, it's well worth it!
