Free Music Notes for The Color Purple (2005 Original Broadway Cast)Free Music Review: Too beatiful for words Hit: 5 StarsI'm from the Netherlands, and just got back from my trip to NYC. I saw the show twice, both times at the first row (had to stand in line for six hours both times) and I was totally amazed.
I've see so many shows over the past 15 years but never saw one like this. I think this cast album is especially great when you've seen the show, since it brings back such great memories and lets you go through the show again in a wonderful way. Though it doesn't compare to what you've seen on stage.
I didn't have laChanze both times, but her standby (Kenita) may even have been better, at least I liked her voice better. I want to share this musical with everyone and would recommend it to everyone.
I sort of feel like how Oprah felt when she first read the novel, and started to give away copies to complete strangers. That's how I feel with having seen this shows, I would love to share this with everyone, since it has left me such a great feeling of which I think it's gonna last for a long time. There's only one small issue, and that is that I don't have Oprah's money, so you'll just have to go and buy your tickets yourselves ;) But this CD may be a nice warming-up for the show, and is one of the best cast-albums I own. They should have made a 2-cd with the entire show!
Be inspired!
Free Music Review: The color purple Hit: 5 StarsI'd seen the show on broadway and just had to have the cd. it's cheaper on amazon than it is to buy it in new york at the production.
Free Music Review: Has some great music Hit: 3 StarsI saw "The Color Purple" on a recommendation of a friend and I was presently surprised with the show. The show has some great music (I am here, The Color Purple, Our Prayer, What About Love) but it lacks something. The show feels slow at times and has a tough time picking up steam. The cast is wonderful and extrememy talented but I don't think that the CD really captures the experience of the show in the theater.
The CD is a worthy buy if you have seen the show. If you haven't seen the show then I think the listener will be missing out ("Any little thing" sung by Sophia and Harpo is a great, funny song when performed on stage but not so much on record)
Free Music Review: Amazing Hit: 4 StarsThis album was absolutely amazing.
Most of the tunes are catchy and stick in your head. My personal favorite is "Our Prayer"
The album is awesome and inspiring.
Free Music Review: Nothing Disappointing Here Hit: 5 StarsI think that this is one of the best shows on Broadway right now. LaChanze does a well awaited performance. There are also many memorable songs.
