Free Music Notes for The Crow: Original Motion Picture SoundtrackFree Music Review: An Extraordinary Soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
The is truly an extraordinary soundtrack that merges some of the greatest alternative artists in this era with an incredible film.
This is not the typical formula of attempting to "link" music with a movie at an attempt for cross-over appeal in pop culture; it is a stand-alone volume, with each cut delivering a brilliance of power. The Stone Temple Pilots was awarded an MTV Movie Award for Big Empty, though a trio of covers - Dead Souls (Joy Division) by NIN, Ghost Rider (Suicide) by the Rollins Band, The Badge (Poison Idea) by Pantera - show a special awareness of an oftentimes under-appreciated past.
The music is permitted room to move and it reaches great heights, while providing a unique trail to the recording of soundtracks.
The Cure, Rage Against the Machine and The Jesus and Mary Chain
Free Music Review: Original Soundtrack - The Crow Hit: 5 Stars
Well, I have to say this is easily one of the best soundtracks of all time. It really is an assembly of remarkable bands and some of which are well under the mainstream radar. Another added bonus is that many of these tracks are previously unreleased, and each one shows each respective band at the top of their game. Nine Inch Nails covering Joy Division? Are you kidding me? How amazing is that? All in all this is a stellar soundtrack, one I can pretty much enjoy from beginning to end. I must reiterate just how splendid I find it to have top name acts like Nine Inch Nails, The Cure, and Pantera alongside virtually unknown (except in the industrial world) acts like Machines of Loving Grace and My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult. An interesting mix of bands for sure, but fortunately for me I can appreciate it all.
Free Music Review: The Greatest Soundtrack Ever!! Hit: 5 Stars
The Crow was the album that really turned me on to alternative music. It's a brilliant, and amazingly eclectic bit of art. From Helmet to Pantera to the amazingly intense " Dead Souls" by Nine Inch Nails ( Originally by Joy Division--the Group who inspired The Comic book series "The Crow"), it's got stuff for even the most die-hard headbanger. And then, there are the other standout cuts--the very ethereal, very lovely "It Can't Rain All the Time" by Jane Siberry, Medicine's " Time Baby III", and , of course, Jesus And Mary Chain's "SnakeDriver". This easily deserves the accolade of the best soundtrack ever, one that boasts not just a great set of songs, but also reminds you of the movie with each chord. Buy, Buy, Buy!!!!!
Free Music Review: If you liked the movie you'll probably love the soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
Strong rock songs. Pretty slow ballad. The movies flash in my mind as I listen to each of the songs. Need I say more?
It's too bad the band's version of It Can't Rain All The Time isn't on the soundtrack. Then the version that IS on the CD has lyrics 'It WON'T rain all the time'. Jane Siberry's song is quite pretty & her voice very nice but if there actually was a whole song recorded it would have completed the soundtrack nicely.
Could they have thought of this while making the film. Maybe recording wasn't completed before the death of Brandon Lee? Or did they wait until after Lee's death to release a version w/him singing to make post-death profits? I won't be pessimistic. I would have loved to have heard it if there were such a version.
Free Music Review: Just a great soundtrack Hit: 5 Stars
I hate recent soundtrack albums. It's riddled with "what's hot" songs and genre jumping bands that rarely compliment the movie. That's why I appreciate this album more for it's ability to capture the mood of the film than the songs themselves. But don't get me wrong, there are some amazing songs on this soundtrack. The Cure's "Burn' (with crow cawing samples), a great NIN cover of Joy Division's "Dead Souls",and the fast paced industial tune "After The Flesh" from My Life With The Thrill Kill Cult, are all featured in the film and create an atmospheric backround for the movie's dark scenes. Even if you're not a big fan of the movie itself, the soundtrack gives listeners a great collection of some of the great songs from bands that were at their prime in the '90s.
