Free Music Notes for Born into This

Free Music Review: Pretty good.
Hit: 4 Stars

I'm a huge cult fan. I have been pleasantly pleased with this album. I feel they have stayed true and have gone back to their traditional sound. I am not saying that this is a "Sonic Temple" but keep in mind they are rocking pretty darn good for being in their 40's....it's MUCH better than all that stuff they play on the radio.

Free Music Review: after a year of listening
Hit: 5 Stars

well it's been a year since one of rocks' finest bands
finally recorded & released a brand new album.

& here it is 'born into this'.

i've been looking over reviews here, & was getting angrier with every
bad review for this brilliant brilliant brilliant album.
i get the sad feeling a lot of people would prefer 'electric2'.
i love 'electric' & i'll put that on when i want to hear it.
i don't need another version of a brilliant album ...
... i need another 'different' brilliant album ...
& this is it folks ... 100% CULT 2007 vintage.

this album is like a big mix of every style they've done, but all done
in a new way ... as the cult do ... they have grown ...
never afraid to put their balls on the line & i respect that.
like the 'black sheep' cult album that scared a lot of fans.
my god what a brilliant album that one is ...
... & this is very much in that same vein although ...
not quite as dark with born into this ...
but some of that vibe is still there & it's fantastic.

they don't make singles they make albums ...
... & that's what i want ... albums not a bunch of catchy singles.
i love 'lil devil' & 'sanctuary' etc etc etc but come on ...
... we all grow up eventually & so have ian & billy.

it's like they're taking us on a rock n roll ride through
the decades ... & i don't want my money back yet.
these guys are givin' me the time of my life sonically.
long may they continue to release albums & impress my ears.

is 'born into this' instantly loveable ?

i don't think so ... took me a few listens before i 'LOVED' it.

... i don't care if an album takes a few listens to unfold for me.
shows the depth of writing & crafting that went into it if everytime
you listen you find something new to love about it.
i think every album should get 5 good listens before dismissal.
every track here i can honestly say i love now.
this is a great album ... a fine effort boys.
i'm lookin' forward to listening to this
for the rest of my life.

thankyou so much billy & ian.

please continue to grow & release your brilliant albums.
they're all special in their own way.

thankyou for sharing them with us.

... spelldorado.

Free Music Review: extras add zilch
Hit: 4 Stars

No need to get this edition. The extras just take up space. Get the regular issue, it's great!! Stands along side all the others.

Free Music Review: Really wanted to like this : (
Hit: 3 Stars

The cd has grown on me a little since the disappointing first listen so I'll give it 3 stars. I'm a huge Cult fan so I would have bought this cd even if I knew how poor it was. To all the people that gave it 5 stars, C'mon people get real, I know you love the band but lets be honest. This is no way a 5 star effort. Even 4 stars is a strecth. To be honest I was shocked at how bad this cd was on the first play thru. Nothing really stood out except for Born into this with the Stones guitar riff and the very funky War Pony Destroyer. Born into this has grown on me a lot and has it's own personality aside from the Stones riff. I dont really think about the copied riff anymore. War Pony Destroyer is my favorite song. So funky and cool. Needs a good solo which this cd has none of. I cringe every time I hear Holy Mountain. I dont know what the band or the producers were thinking. I guess nobody wanted to offend Ian by cutting the track but the song is laughable. Like others have written he sounds like a worn out fat Elvis or some really bad lounge singer. Sorry if you read this Ian, I do still love you very much. Overall a poor effort. Hey I understand if they're written out. Still I'm surprised after all the time between cds that they couldnt come up with better material. These guys arent really that old. Ian 46 and Billy 47 still have some life left. Hopefully they have another good one in them. If not so be it. They had a good run even though they never really "made" it. This cd is only for big fans of the band. Not for the casual fan.

Free Music Review: Born to shine!
Hit: 5 Stars

They are back! The greatest band in the whole Universe has landed a new musical effort. An artistic treasure, with contemporary issues and a classic soul. The time Astbury spent with the Doors only managed him to become more deeper a creator and critic, chanting along his world visions with Duffy's greatest riffs thundering around again. A true record for true rockers. If this is your case, do not hesitate to listen to the Cult's new creation. Not indicated for Dirty Little Rockstars!
