Free Music Review: Best Cure album since 1989
Hit: 5 Stars

I became a Cure album in 1985, shortly after The Head On The Door was released. Since then the Cure has had several releases, with Disintegration (1989) being a well recognized high point in their career. Since Disintegration there have been additional notables - such as the commercial success of Wish, and 2000's Bloodflowers release. Wild Mood Swings (1996) had a few good songs, as did the self-titled album, but both were letdowns for me. And though I liked Bloodflowers a lot and Wish as well, neither to me were as good as earlier successes in the 1980's.

Enter 4:13 Dream... I purchased the album 2 days ago and can't stop listening to it. The songs are original, catchy, dark, deep, textured and rich. There is not a single song on this album that I skip over and that has not happened (at least not for me) since 1989. The album as a whole honors the band's roots (ala Pornography and The Top) while moving forward with an innovative but distinctly Cure sound. Underneath The Stars, The Perfect Boy, and The Scream, are sure to become classics.....

Buy it and enjoy!

Free Music Review: Best album since Disintegration.
Hit: 5 Stars

After years of waiting for this album, it is finally out. My congratulations to Robert Smith for finally being able to match the intensity of Plainsong (Disintegration album), with Underneath the Stars. The song is absolutely beautiful. This song absolutely makes the album. I hate to say it but it is even better than Plainsong.

Updated: Okay, after 24 hours with this album, I must say it has to be my favorite Cure album, next to Disintegration. All the songs are catchy and really mellowed out and relaxing. Yet, they still manage to depress you, which is what we want The Cure to do. I absolutely fell in love with Sirensong. I wish he would have extended Sirensong by about another minute. The only song I do not like in this album is Switch. 12 out of 13 is not bad.

This is a different Cure album from the rest. Of course Robert Smith is so talented he can change the style of his music from album to album. So for all the complainers, JUST STOP IT. Some people just get off on hating on The Cure, but cannot stop buying their albums.

Free Music Review: Best album in years!
Hit: 5 Stars

The Cure are a multifaceted gem of a band. They have such a diverse catalog that they attract various groups of fans with different tastes...as is evidenced by the wide variety of opinions about their last several albums. With that said, I already know some people will not agree with me, but I think this is the best album since "Wish". I did not care for "Bloodflowers" except for Maybe Someday (which is great). "The Cure" did not impress me either except for Taking Off, which I love. "Wild Mood Swings" had a couple of gems, but "4:13 Dream" has the most to offer since "Wish". Several of the songs harken back to the earlier style of my two favorite albums: "Kiss Me..." and "The Head on the Door". I hope The Cure create music for many more years to come, but if this happens to be one of their final albums...it's a great one to end out an amazing career. A very sincere thanks to an unparalleled band who could bring complex multilayered mood and emotion to each and every song.

Free Music Review: consistently brilliant
Hit: 5 Stars

It appears that the majority of reviews for the new Cure album are favorable, and mine is no different. I grew up more of a hair metal fan in the 80's (I know...yikes), but I also dug The Cure and their eccentricities, even if I didn't have any of their albums. As I've gotten older, I've learned to appreciate them even more, and now they are at the top of my favorite band-list. This latest effort is superb, with the same melodic guitar delivery and Robert Smith's angst-driven vocals. Every song seemed to flow effortlessly into the next. There is always a comfortable quirkiness about any Cure song, and this album is no exception. They just seem to take the listener somewhere musically and emotionally that no other band can. My favorite tracks on 4:13 Dream are the fantastic opener Underneath The Stars, The Reasons Why, The Perfect Boy, and This Here And Now With You, but honestly, there isn't a bad track on here. It's all genius, as you'd expect from The Cure.

Free Music Review: 4:13 Dream - The Cure
Hit: 5 Stars

Need not say much, 4:13 Dream speaks for itself. "The Perfect Boy" my favorite is the defining song on this album, any CURE fan [probably already has this]will surely enjoy!!!!! Maybe their next project will be a re-release of ultra rare collections to add to their fan's collection, ex. [Maybe Someday - Out Of This World - Just Say Yes - Quadpus - Galore, The Video Collection on DVD - just to mention several, that were limited, esp. to U.S. fans. A Genuine Cure for what all fan's. [Re-Makes of All Their Single's] I'm Convinced They Would Out-Sell Most Group's Albums. Example - Lost Wishes - "Lost Flower's, supposedly B-sides and Demo's From Bloodflower's, Only heard of them never have acutally Heard the song's? If They exist, Perhap's 'Bloodflower's' will be Their next Deluxe Edition release with them on there. / Enough already evry album they release - 4:13 Dream - Fan's can't get enough.../ Hard Work Pay's. Thanks Guy's & keep putting them out.
