Free Music Notes for 4:13 DreamFree Music Review: The album has been growing on me.. I like it better now ! Hit: 4 Stars
The album has been growing on me..
I like it better now than I did at first!
When you listen to this cd, you have to keep in my Robert smith says he has kept all the darker songs off this release to be released on a separate album to be released very soon.
Underneath the Stars is one of my top 10 favorite Cure songs, it is amazing.
The only one is pretty good
The real snow white is awful , my least favorite song on the cd.
The hungry ghost is OK b .
Switch is Great,
The scream is great
It's over is Great.
I didn't really care for the singles much on their own, much they do seem to fit in better on the album as a whole.
Over time even the singes like freakshow have grown on me
Come on Robert, give us the darker songs now.
You know everybody wants another cd that sounds and feels like Disintegration.
SO give us what we want. Give us Disintegration part 2 !!
Free Music Review: Solid Album...Kinda like Wish Part 2 without the somber parts... Hit: 4 Stars
It's really hard to rate Cure albums as it all depends on your mood and what you want to listen to at the time. I still feel as though Disintegration is the best album with Bloodflowers in at number 2. However, that's a personal choice as I prefer that side of the band moreso than the others.
IMO, The Cure is the most diverse band I've ever listened to and are capable of being successful of many styles of music. I do wish they'd never let Roger O'Donnell go as he was the definitive Cure keyboardist and great keyboard playing has always been a staple of The Cure. I think it's great Porl is back and although I prefer Boris Williams over Jason Cooper, I think he's really improved as a drummer. I've heard there is another album on the way containing darker material similar to Bloodflowers and Disintegration and I'm really looking foward to it!
Free Music Review: Worthwhile Addition to the Cure Discography Hit: 4 Stars
Okay this is not Disintegration. What is? There are three songs that I did not download into Itunes that frankly seem to be redos of things that I've heard before (the Real Snow White?). Before you take that to mean something it's not I doubt I've ever downloaded every song off Cure CD ever.
My favorites are Switch which I saw them peform on Pallidium and the strangely named but truly memorable Hungry Ghost both of which are almost as good as anything they've ever done.
Other notable songs include The Only One, Scream and Sleep When I'm Dead. These five songs make it worthwhile enough. I'm sure that the others will grow on me as I listen to them more.
I agree that this is their best work since Bloodflowers. In my view it is definitely worth additing to the collection.
Free Music Review: Well worth the wait--much better than the last one Hit: 4 Stars
I think most of the other positive reviews are accurate--no it's not as good as Disintegration (is any album?), but it's much better than their self-titled album. While the absence of Roger O'Donnell gives the band a more stripped down, pure sound, the songs don't sound very different from the last album. Perhaps the difference is these songs seem tighter, more focused, and better produced (probably because they had more than enough time to work on them). Robert's vocals are as good as ever, and the familiar chorus-drenched guitar melodies and slithery bass are all there. If you are even a reasonably loyal Cure fan, you won't be disappointed with this album. I literally liked it as a whole from the first listen, and there aren't any "unlistenable" tracks--just 13 tracks of good old fashioned Cure tunes.
Free Music Review: Way better than their previous Hit: 4 Stars
I do believe The Cure is still capable of creating great stuff and their amazing 2001 'Cut Here' proves it (it's perhaps my fav. Cure song). This album is a great leap forward from the horrible "The Cure" CD, thank goodness we can close that terrible chapter on the band's history.
As for 4:13 Dream, I can find a little of Wish and some Bloodflowers on it which is fine, you can't possibly go wrong with Bloodflowers. There are some great tracks on it like beautiful, dreamy 'Underneath the Stars' (I SO miss the keyboards on that song), 'The Only One', 'Sirensong' and 'The Hungry Ghost'. This cd would've been much better if it included only 12 tracks instead of 13. I'd probably rate it 5 stars if it weren't for 'Sleep when I'm Dead', no wonder it was never included on the Head on the Door.
