Free Music Review: What the heck was he thinking?

When I first heard Derek Trucks playing slide guitar on his self titled CD I was blown away. It included lots of Blues/Jazz fusion, but that was OK because of his great slide guitar work! Then, on "Out Of The Madness" he and the the band went deep into the Blues with several remakes of classics...Sonny Boy Williamson, Howlin Wolf, and a couple from Son House. All of it sounded great, and the slide work was awesome! So, I was really excited to find that Derek had a new release. Problem is, he and the band are playing World music...not Blues, not Blues/Jazz, but World. "Joyous Noise" has chants, Indian influences, citars instead of guitars. It's not what I thought I was buying based on his first 2 CDs, and certainly not something I'd have expected from the guitarist from The Allman Brothers Band. If I'd have known he had decided to change genres entirely I would not have bought this CD. It sure doesn't belong in my Blues collection! Sorry Derek...let me know when you decide to return to the Blues!Free Music Review: Does not live up to the title track

A Joyful Noise starts out with a track of the same name and quickly reinforces the choice of purchasing this disc. The problem is, it quickly dissolves into a cacophonous mess. There is not much in the way of "Joy" where this noise is concerned.I was completely disappointed. I expected so much more having heard the title track on a "loss leader" disc last year. Save your money.

THIS IS PROBABLY THE WORST CD I HAVE EVER BOUGHT. I PURCHASED THIS CD BECAUSE I AM A HUGE ALLMANS FAN, THIS CD ATTEMPTS TO COPY THE ALLMANS STYLE AND IT DOES'NT EVEN COME CLOSE, A BETTER TITLE WOULD BE "JUST NOISE"..DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY.
