Free Music Notes for Soul SerenadeFree Music Review: Ok Hit: 4 StarsIt's an interesting album, allthough it is a step down from the fantastic joyful Noise. Derek digs in with the style and sound that is only his. This album is more guitar and less experimentation and is just another chapter in the ongoing Indian Jazz blues saga of Mr. Trucks.
Free Music Review: Soothing to the Soul Hit: 5 StarsI have been hooked on Derek Trucks' music for over three years, and this release proves that my obsession is not unwarranted. The musicianship of the artists playing on this cd is unparalleled in today's musical arena. This cd is almost all instrumental, with the exception of one track with singer Gregg Allman, whose soulful, Southern crooning delivers the chills. The instrumentals range from the bluesy beginning of Soul Serenade>Rastaman Chant, to the jazz infused Bock to Bock. However, the most captivative track on this wonderful cd is the last one, an original instrumental titled "Sierra Leone". This is what Spring would sound like if it was transformed into music. Perfectly beautiful.
