This album is "a hoot!"
"Go Girl Crazy" is a great album for people who like rock 'n' roll but don't take it too seriously.
The Dictators managed to create some kind of proto-punk/metal masterpiece here, all with a smart alecky sense of humor that predates the Beastie Boys by about a decade.
The whole album is really darn funny, essentially encapsulating rock and roll through the eyes of a bored sarcastic teenager who loves junk culture. Its also catchy as can be, with musical and lyrical hooks coming out of every song.
I can't listen to it once without getting that perfectly lunkheaded riff of "Next Big Thing" stuck in my head, smiling at Handsome Dick Manitoba and Adny Schernoff sarcastically singing "I Got You, Babe" to each other (!!!), being amazed at the many, very impressive solos by Ross "The Boss" or just straight out busting up at one of the last lines in their cover of "California Sun" ("And I'd shistaboobah (and I'd WHAT?)").
Every song on here has something to love, and even though songs like "Back To Africa" and "Master Race Rock" might be considered a bit insensitive today, anyone who listens to them knows that they're not to be taken seriously at all, "Back To Africa" is zany Mad Magazine-style humor, and "Master Race Rock" is actually quite ironic, considering that most of the band is Jewish.
"Go Girl Crazy" is deliriously entertaining. I highly recommend it.
