Free Music Review: Doors finally rocking and wild
Hit: 4 Stars

This is not the perfect Doors album. It doesn't have much of a sheen. Heck, it's raw, loose and mean. I've been waiting for this one. The Doors on an average night with the singer going, going...but it's toughness belies an attitude straight out of Doors mythology. Love it, hate it, doesn't matter much. It's rock and roll, baby and I'm listening.

Free Music Review: 1970 THE DOORS LIVE from Boston.
Hit: 4 Stars

Pretty good performance, with a good set list, and okay sound on this CD, package.

Free Music Review: The Doors, Live In Massachusetts..
Hit: 3 Stars

Live in Boston, 1970, Jim Morrison and the Doors take the stage to an enthusiastic audience, an early and late show. The band was tight and Morrison was feeling alright, alright...yes, Jim was intoxicated, so what, this was probably the case with all Doors live shows. The main problem with this live show is the recorded sound, the instruments drown Morrison's vocals out at some points, the vocals are not vital, not prominent, maybe caused from the arena sound. Jim Morrison wasn't at his very best on these Boston shows, like some quarterbacks in the NFL, on some days they are right on, and other days they couldn't throw a loaf of bread. It's like I always say about these type of recordings, it's the historical documentation factor that accounts and overrules all bounderies and obstacles, especially live in concert. This is a three disc set, a digipak, the disc slide tightly in the cardboard holders, would rather have the plastic disc holders, for extra protection. Disc 1 is the first show, disc 2&3 are the second. Overall not a bad recording, not a great recording, it is "The Doors". Just had to hear this show after reading all the positive reviews, about "Tanji town" Jim Morrison.

Free Music Review: Yes, I WAS there. lol...
Hit: 3 Stars

OK - I just ordered it and will review it after I listen. But I couldn't wait to post that I was there and remember it pretty well. Despite the fact that I grew up during the 60s, I was pretty ignorant about music. Sure, I enjoyed The Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, etc. - but I didn't really appreciate what I was hearing, etc.

So, my buddy brought me to Boston Arena as a birthday present. Honest - I really didn't know who The Doors were. Jim was drunk on his butt and the music was NOT good. I turned to my friend and said, "These guys suck!" He grabbed me by the arm and asked me if I wanted to get out of there alive - because most of the people around us thought that Morrison was GOD! I ended up just standing there, suffering through a pretty bad concert, but without commenting further until we were safely outside.

I'll be very interested in hearing this concert through my more "mature" ears! Will 40 years make a difference? Oh, I had to rate it to post my comment, so I gave it 3 stars. Maybe I'll change that after listening?

Free Music Review: Far from The Doors at their best
Hit: 3 Stars

Live In Boston is easily the weakest live Doors album yet. Jim is drunk and his performance seriously suffers. I was able to tolerate (and even enjoy) most of it, but I would not be surprised if someone shut this off after a few songs. Sadly, Jim only gets worse as the show goes on. A lack of pro-recorded shows and the ability to market this as "Jim Morrison at his wildest!" are the only reasons why this show is being released. If you have all the previous live Doors releases and don't mind hearing a very rough performance, go ahead and check this one out. I've enjoyed listening to it, but I'm sure it wont become a favorite. There is much better live Doors material out there. If you don't own any Doors live albums yet, start with Live in Philadelphia or Live in Detroit. Both of those shows are vastly superior to Live in Boston.
