Free Music Notes for Live in PhiladelphiaFree Music Review: Vintage Jam!!! Hit: 4 StarsI looked forward to this live release and I picked this one because I liked the setlist and I was eager to hear how Jim sounded amidst the happenings in his personal life at that time. I was pleasantly surprised by the mood of this album. When the announcer was trying to get everybody in their seats in the beginning of Side One, I thought "What exactly did I buy here?" I actually found that comical. "Our hair is just as long as yours man!" Classic! When the Doors came on though, it was all business and the tracks sound great. The standouts include "Roadhouse", "Mystery Train", "When The Music's Over, "Wake Up" into "Light My Fire" and on side two: "Carol" into "Soul Kitchen". If you're a new Doors fan, dig this album because it gives you a feel of a good live Doors jam. The musicianship of the band is right on and you won't be disappointed. Highly recommended!
Free Music Review: You're there! Hit: 5 StarsRough, but a "must have" for dedicated fans. Price was very fair, as was shipping and handling. A+.
Free Music Review: More classic live Door`s. Hit: 4 StarsTo be short and sweet...the 1st disc is really good, great performances and a rare ship of fools really pleases.
The second disc has a very rare gem 'Maggie McGill' and Soul Kitchen is performed well. The whole 2nd disc is good accept tracks 3 and 4....Jim had run out of steam for those tracks...When I play that disc I skip those tracks, and all is well.
A worth while purchase for Doors fans.
Free Music Review: only for true fans Hit: 4 Starswell this is only for true fans it could have been soo much better if it wasent for that five minuets of telling the croud to sit back in there sets yes it is a double cd ive only seen this cd at the amazon and or doors website all in all the sound is good good songs to short of a concert though pick it up if u are old doors fan if u are new pick up absloute best of thats were u should start then make youre way
Free Music Review: Decent performance, good CD's Hit: 4 StarsThis performance, as stated by other reviewers is definatly not the best available on the Bright Midnight label. It's not even the entire recorded concert; i.e. it's missing the dialogue parts that were used from that show in Absolutely Live. It's missing the first part of the announcer's intro (which can be found as the first track on A.L.) and it's also missing Jim's "Hey Philadelphia... do you feel alright?" rant that came after Mystery Train (found at the end of track 1 on A.L.). I'm not sure why these pieces of dialogue were not included, especially because the opening part of the announcer's commentary is probably the most famous thing from this show "The fire marshall won't let this show go on unless you make isles." But, on the whole, it's not a bad show if you are into straight renditions of the songs. Would recommend the Detroit and Aquarius shows first.
