Free Music Review: Like Cream without Jack Bruce, like the Jackson Five without Michael

Now is your chance to hear the Doors without that creative spark that made them conceptually and lyrically interesting if not great. Its evident from the git go that something is missing. Get Up And Dance from Full Circle for example is a generic rocker coupled with the bargain basement exhortations to "get up and dance" (the only lyrics I might add) It doesn't sound remotely like the Doors but more like a competent bar band playing at an amusement park. Hey kids its time to PARTY! Other lyrics are almost as bad. Verdillac has the lyric "get me some coffee from my favorite cup or I might have to conjure up spirits, spirits, sprits." But at least Verdillac has a groove and some funky organ. And that pretty much exemplifies the major problem with these albums. Tho the instrumentation sometimes achieves a level commensurate with the Doors, the so so singing, just plain awful lyrics and the complete lack of concept drag the whole mess right down into a pool of lukewarm mediocre. Without Jim these guys become nothing more than competent musicians. They seem completely rudderless. The muse is gone. For the curious only.

Time. 2004.After Jim Morrison's Death in 1971, the Doors Carried on as a Trio with Ray Manzarek Carrying Most of the Lead Vocal Chores. They Released These Two Albums and Then Called it a Day.
