Free Music Notes for PerceptionFree Music Review: The Doors..."What it was!" Hit: 5 Stars
If you were there you REALLY understand and I probably can't offer up much to you. You know. And to those that weren't and want to explore four american, rocker, hippie, musician guys, this package will do it for you.
Take a dark room, a couple of candles, some good incense, and smoke 'em if you got 'em. Have yourself a breathtaking experience of high end wordology/poetry, and high end virtuoso musicianship that just really gets to the point. A little reading of how Amerika was so uptight for this cat Jim Morrison, and you'll dig it even more. There was peace AND danger in the air kids. That's what rock&roll is suppose to be anyway.
This was a Christmas gift from wifey. A treasure for sure. Peace.
Free Music Review: A Must-Have for Any Doors Fan Hit: 5 Stars
I love The Doors music. I've wanted to buy this boxset since its release date but hadn't for no good reasons other than I thought, perhaps, having the Doors music already why would I need to add, basically, the same music to want I already had. Putting that aside, I always knew I'd purchase this boxset when my mind set was right. Today, I bought it. I immediately listened to the DVD 5.1 mix, and I love them. I heard voices and instrumentation that I hadn't heard before and I enjoyed that added benefit. It almost made my Doors' listening-experience brand-new. If you love The Doors do yourself a positive and buy this boxset. Having the 5.1 mixes is definitely a plus.
Free Music Review: "A must have for Doors fans everywhere" Hit: 5 Stars
Hats off to Rhino Records for putting together a box set that truly does this legendary group justice-You get all six of the band's studio releases:"The Doors" (1967) "Strange Days" (1967) "Waiting For The Sun" (1968),"The Soft Parade" (1969),"Morrison Hotel" (1970) & "L.A.Woman" (1971)-Each of the CD packages contains a bonus DVD of the group performing their material in various venues-Whoever did the audio remastering deserves to be commended-The sound on the individual CD's is far superior to that of the original LP's-If you're looking to upgrade your Doors collection, toss out those worn out LP's & purchase "Perception"-It's money well spent.
Free Music Review: The Difference Between 2006 & 2008 Versions Hit: 5 Stars
Some people have wondered what the difference is between the 2006 & 2008 re-issue, and I haven't seen a review that really ironed out the differences. Now that I have a 2006 set in my possession, I can expand on the differences!
The discs are all the same, but the packaging is quite different:
The 2006 is a more robust package that kinda opens up like a book to reveal the discs. It has a working peephole on the front from where you can view pics of the band via a little spinning wheel in the back (think manual slide projector).
The 2008 set is a simple slipcase with none of the above features.
Free Music Review: This is Amazing! Hit: 5 Stars
If you even like The Doors, this is an amazing product. I wish more well known artists released sets like this. I even had the Mobile Fidelity gold version of two of these CDs and this set blows them away. I heard things repeatedly on these discs that I have never heard before in these recordings. Why can't The Beatles do something worthwhile like this?
