Free Music Notes for Love/Hate

Free Music Review: I Luv Your Girl!
Hit: 4 Stars

The-Dream drops a sexy baby making album with his debut Love/Hate. He burst on the scene with Shawty Is Da Shhh (which is lightweight unlistenable at the moment since they played it to the bones!) and boy was that a hit. Dream has his own little style instantly recognizable when you hear it because of singing style and beat style. Pretty much every song could be a radio hit. Nikki, I Luv Your Girl, She Needs My Love, Falsetto, Playin In Her Hair, Purple Kisses, Luv Songs are all bangers and would sound right at home on any R. Kelly cd or baby making cd. The only questionable song is Ditch That which is just wack but the rest of the album is sexy and to the point. Don't sleep on the Dream...no pun intended.

Free Music Review: Love at first sound...!
Hit: 5 Stars

I'm a very skeptical music consumer these days with all the trash that gets released, but when I heard "She needs my love", "Fast Car", and "Livin a Lie", I felt like this dude was singing the soundtrack to my life. Not only does he have an excellent sound, but his production is excellent! So typical Def Jam, and so not Bad Boy (pop trash). I bought this CD in L.A. and played it all the way back to Pennsylvania. It stays in my car and I will be awaiting the sophmore follow up. You definitely will not be disappointed, at least 5 good ones on this CD!

Free Music Review: LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!
Hit: 5 Stars

Frist of all the dream is one of the best producers for 2006- and on.Love-Hate is by far one of the best records i've heard for the year. It's amasing very creative.I love every song on the record. And like he said in an interview..every song is a single..and thats true every song can be played on radio and in clubs..There is not a song i dont like i love the whole record and i can play it all the way threw.I give it an A PLUS!

Free Music Review: TheDream LoveHate
Hit: 5 Stars

I think this entire album is excellent. Just listened to it for the first time and there is not one weak track on the entire album. Every song is excellent. He is really talented and used to write songs for some heavy hitters. Great album!!

Free Music Review: Hey, man, Pretty Ricky called...
Hit: 2 Stars

For those that don't know it yet, Terius "The-Dream" Nash is the man that penned a lot of popular songs on urban radio as well as the charts, the biggest probably having to be Rihanna's "Umbrella". Now he comes at us with his own album, Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter, or, as it is more commonly shortened, Love/Hate.

It would be too easy to say that Dream has the same problem as R. Kelly (writing great songs for other people while writing mediocre songs for himself), but the reason why I compare him to Pretty Ricky is not only because most of the songs are ridiculously raunchy, but also because it looks like he's trying to be -- yep, you guessed it -- an R&B thug. Not only that, but he really can't sing all that well. The overrated "Shawty is da Ish" is far from being the ish, and "Fast Car" is so metaphorically challenged that it almost made me wonder if he's talking about a girl or if he really IS talking about a car.

Other mistakes include "She Needs My Love" and the corny "Falsetto". "Playin' in Her Hair" is hard to relate to, "I Luv Your Girl" is an easy way to get beat down, and "Ditch That N" is just plain wack. The Rihanna duet "Livin' a Lie" also has a very annoying beat (and it isn't helped by that "ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh" part during the second verse).

In fact, the only song really worth listening to is the very last one, "Mama", a straightforward remembrance track. Basically, even though Dream makes adult material, it seems that his album will appeal best to people that are too young to be thinking about things like this (in other words, teenage girls -- once again a reference to Pretty Ricky). I think it's easy to tell whether I love or hate this album; thus, Dream's best bet is to just stick to writing for others.
