Free Music Notes for Love/HateFree Music Review: TheDream LoveHate Hit: 5 StarsI think this entire album is excellent. Just listened to it for the first time and there is not one weak track on the entire album. Every song is excellent. He is really talented and used to write songs for some heavy hitters. Great album!!
Free Music Review: Hey, man, Pretty Ricky called... Hit: 2 StarsFor those that don't know it yet, Terius "The-Dream" Nash is the man that penned a lot of popular songs on urban radio as well as the charts, the biggest probably having to be Rihanna's "Umbrella". Now he comes at us with his own album, Love Me All Summer, Hate Me All Winter, or, as it is more commonly shortened, Love/Hate.
It would be too easy to say that Dream has the same problem as R. Kelly (writing great songs for other people while writing mediocre songs for himself), but the reason why I compare him to Pretty Ricky is not only because most of the songs are ridiculously raunchy, but also because it looks like he's trying to be -- yep, you guessed it -- an R&B thug. Not only that, but he really can't sing all that well. The overrated "Shawty is da Ish" is far from being the ish, and "Fast Car" is so metaphorically challenged that it almost made me wonder if he's talking about a girl or if he really IS talking about a car.
Other mistakes include "She Needs My Love" and the corny "Falsetto". "Playin' in Her Hair" is hard to relate to, "I Luv Your Girl" is an easy way to get beat down, and "Ditch That N" is just plain wack. The Rihanna duet "Livin' a Lie" also has a very annoying beat (and it isn't helped by that "ooh-ooh-ooh-ooh" part during the second verse).
In fact, the only song really worth listening to is the very last one, "Mama", a straightforward remembrance track. Basically, even though Dream makes adult material, it seems that his album will appeal best to people that are too young to be thinking about things like this (in other words, teenage girls -- once again a reference to Pretty Ricky). I think it's easy to tell whether I love or hate this album; thus, Dream's best bet is to just stick to writing for others.

Free Music Review: I can't put this album down. Hit: 5 StarsI love this CD. I usually don't care for music that is so ghetto-fabulous and like to think of myself as "too grown" for that kind of stuff. But, I have to admit, this is what I bump in my car...and some of the songs even in my bedroom. = )
Shawty is the *** really grew on me on the radio, and when I heard "Falsetto" I knew I had to go cop the CD. I love it. "I love your girl" is a hit. "Nikki" is a hit. "Purple Kisses" is super-sexy and "She Needs my Love" is a major hit and I also like "Fast Car". My absolute favorite song on the CD is "Love Songs". This is a baby-maker. The whole CD is good, I love to bang it my car, like I said. It makes me feel sexy and cool.
Free Music Review: One hell of a surprise Hit: 5 StarsHonestly, I did not see this one coming. This album is hot. Shawty is a Ten is actually one of my least favorite songs along with I Love Your Girl, so I thought the album started off decent, but once Fast Car kicked in, DAMN the album was bumpin. She Needs my Love, Falsetto, Playin In Her Hair, Purple Kisses, Ditch That, ... I mean the rest of the album was bumpin. The song for Mama was real nice too, no doubt, even though there was a lot of electronic sound in it. I think he's a strong songwriter, singer and producer. Yeah, some things throughout the album were a little redundant like the "ay's" and stuff, but that's a minor thing. He got some dance tracks, some good mid tempo to slower tracks. The album is different (and short) enough to stay interesting, but not so different to make it seem disjointed and more like a compilation. I'm glad as hell I got it cause I stay bumpin The Dream now, man. He didn't even no any famous guest appearances or nothing, just held it down himself the whole album. I wonder what's next from this dude.
If I had to pick out some favorite songs, I'd have to say my favorites are Fast Car, Falsetto, She Needs My Love, Nikki, Ditch That..., Playin In Her Hair and Purple Kisses... Enough? lol
Free Music Review: The-Dream's HOT debut Hit: 5 StarsTHis album is hot. I love this CD. None of the songs sound the same. This album is a sonic gauntlet thrown against complacen, cookie cutter music. He has seen people change lie the weather, but he is forecasting a 100% chance of reign. This album is musically like the '80s. He is doing the "Umbrella" routine to this album. This album needs to go PLATINUM.
