Free Music Notes for Love/HateFree Music Review: One hell of a surprise Hit: 5 StarsHonestly, I did not see this one coming. This album is hot. Shawty is a Ten is actually one of my least favorite songs along with I Love Your Girl, so I thought the album started off decent, but once Fast Car kicked in, DAMN the album was bumpin. She Needs my Love, Falsetto, Playin In Her Hair, Purple Kisses, Ditch That, ... I mean the rest of the album was bumpin. The song for Mama was real nice too, no doubt, even though there was a lot of electronic sound in it. I think he's a strong songwriter, singer and producer. Yeah, some things throughout the album were a little redundant like the "ay's" and stuff, but that's a minor thing. He got some dance tracks, some good mid tempo to slower tracks. The album is different (and short) enough to stay interesting, but not so different to make it seem disjointed and more like a compilation. I'm glad as hell I got it cause I stay bumpin The Dream now, man. He didn't even no any famous guest appearances or nothing, just held it down himself the whole album. I wonder what's next from this dude.
If I had to pick out some favorite songs, I'd have to say my favorites are Fast Car, Falsetto, She Needs My Love, Nikki, Ditch That..., Playin In Her Hair and Purple Kisses... Enough? lol
Free Music Review: The-Dream's HOT debut Hit: 5 StarsTHis album is hot. I love this CD. None of the songs sound the same. This album is a sonic gauntlet thrown against complacen, cookie cutter music. He has seen people change lie the weather, but he is forecasting a 100% chance of reign. This album is musically like the '80s. He is doing the "Umbrella" routine to this album. This album needs to go PLATINUM.
Free Music Review: PassionateSexy... Thats what its called!!! Hit: 5 StarsWhen i first got the cd I thought it was pretty much teh same as all hip hop and r&b out there right now. The Drean is very creative. its not like anything I have ever listened to, but it is a mixture of prince mixed with R. Kelly. i love his songs which makes me relate to certain things he is feeling and saying in these songs. I believe that he is here to stay and I hope that he sales big time. I'm lookin for a fast car too!! you go head boy!!!
Free Music Review: Shawty is da S**t? NAW .....The-Dream is the S**t Hit: 5 StarsThis dude is off the chain. He has a different sort of thing going on. This is definatley one of my favorite R&B albums to come out in a long time. You can let this one play through. Wanna hear some good music go get this cd.
Free Music Review: Love it or hate it? Neither. I like it though. Hit: 3 Stars The Dream's songs "Shorty is a 10" and "Falsetto" received a lot of radio play. These two songs are very entertaining. Add that to the fact that he produced Rihanna's "Umbrella" and J. Holiday's "Bed" and you'll discover that the music industry has encountered a talented fellow. I enjoyed his debut album, "Lovehate" particularly because the production is great. His voice is immature in some places, but he hits some nice falsetto notes. There is nothing special about his voice, in my opinion, and he channels Ne-Yo in a few ways.
"Fast Car" has one of the best beats I have heard in such a long time! It sounds much like something Prince would have recorded in the late 1980s, but The Dream adds his own creativity into the song. I like the hook as well. Here, The Dream is comparing a woman to a car, which is a formula which has been recycled time and time again, and I grew tired of it a long time ago, but this song is still the best on the album! "Shorty is the S***" (or, "Shorty is A Ten" if speaking of the radio version) has a very catchy hook, good lyrics and a great beat. The beat, though, channels Elton John's "Benny and the Jets." "Falsetto" is another album highlight. The hook is very creative and the production is also good. "Nikki", "She Needs My Love", and "Livin' A Lie" are all OK tracks, but there is nothing special about any of them. Rihanna is featured on"Livin' A Lie", but she and The Dream in the studio together? A better finished product could have been produced. Each song on "Lovehate" is mid-tempo or up-beat, so don't look for any ballads.
This is a solid album. It is not a bad album, but there are only about three truly memorable tracks found here, and the rest is average or just plain forgettable. R&B fans should benefit from it in some way, so go ahead and make that purchase.
