Free Music Review: Great music!
Hit: 5 Stars

We saw the show on Broadway and had to have the CD. Very fun, funny, and upbeat!

Free Music Review: Monkey song dull? Maybe cuz you haven't seen the show?
Hit: 5 Stars

The first time I saw this show, the surprise after surprise really impressed me. When Aldolfo appeared in the Nightingale song, I asked my friend, "What's going on here, this scene does not make sense." The surprise a minute after I asked that, made me laugh and laugh and laugh.

The second time I saw it, on opening night in May, they changed a few things. Aldolfo sang differently when spelling his name (the "Fo" in "Aldolfo"). They also changed the music in "Accident Waiting To Happen"). Man In Chair also changed his monologue, for instance when introducing Trix. Troy Britton Johnson fell when running to Sutton Foster, luckily he did not hurt himself, unlike Sutton who broke her wrist before.

The third time, last week, several small changes too, Mrs. Tottendale did not say anything before Feldzieg says "What a wonderful tragedy." I do not like the change in the ending though, when Man In Chair started singing "As We Stumbled Along", all casts turn their head almost at the same time. Before, it was only the groom who turns his head, the rest of the casts remain still, this makes the groom's small head turn more dramatic IMO.

Free Music Review: Another 'On the Nose' show that oddly delivers
Hit: 4 Stars

It's both perplexing and oddly reassuring to me that in today's cynical landscape musicals that are not cynical at all could be direct hits on broadway. Between The Producers and Spamalot there's been a kind of resurgence in old school humorists with a contemporary self-awareness which somehow doesn't take away from the earnesty and humor... Add Drowsy Chaperone to this list. I'll throw in my two cents- Foster is, as always, a master at her craft, the music is, if a little old fashioned, still completely satisfying... I'm kind of in love with this little show...

Free Music Review: Wonderful Show!
Hit: 5 Stars

It's amusing reading these reviews. So many people just don't seem to get it, but who cares? I love The Monkey Song and As We Stumble Along, the latter being a Zen masterpiece! Both reflect the genius of this show. How can you complain about something with lyrics like: "But what a thrill when lovebirds trill" or "But heartbeats rush when sweethearts gush"? Some of the jokes of course don't come off unless you see the show...otherwise, how can you possibly understand "Message from a Nightingale"? All I can say is,
"Makes me twitch, makes me shake, this great show, takes the cake!"

Free Music Review: Wonderful, delightful show
Hit: 5 Stars

This is a wonderful delightful show. It is a "must-see" when you are in NYC or another in which it is playing, and the cd is a delight ---- a faithful recording of a bouncy, bubbly score. Treat yourself and listen to this great cd. Every vocal track is a gem and the cast is superb! Broadway at its current best!
