This is Vini at the peak of his powers. Virtually no vocals on these tracks (except one with a female guest singer); rather, he employs vocal samples liberally, including Otis Redding on one track. It works marvelously. Almost all the songs are like beautiful, haunting dreams. Hard to describe this music, but if you know Durutti at all, just trust me, this is among their (his) very best work. I guess you could describe it as delicate, fragile, unobtrusive... but at the same time really powerful and enduring. I gather this was recorded around the time of his work on Morrissey's Viva Hate record. If you haven't heard much Durutti but you liked the music on Viva Hate, you'll certainly enjoy this. And if you do know and appreciate the DC, you really, really need to have this.
