Free Music Notes for The English Patient: Original Soundtrack Recording

Free Music Review: It didn't deserved the Oscar.
Hit: 4 Stars

This is a very beautiful soundtrack with lovely themes from Gabriel Yared. But John Williams("Sleepers") or Elliot Goldenthal("Michael Collins") should have won the oscar in this year.

Free Music Review: Not the best I have heared so far, but still impressive...
Hit: 3 Stars

While the soundtrack is still impressive, and has some nice parts to it, I have a few "issues" with it. I am a huge soundtrack fan, my favourite composers being Williams, Hans Zimmer, Nick-Glennie Smith, ect. Now the first thing that must come to your attention is that there are a lot of tracks on this soundtrack! Indeed, most of the tracks are very short. This may or may not bother you. Personally I find it a bit annoying as I enjoy a rather lengthy track. The other thing that really ticks me off with this work is the following: When I listen to a soundtrack, I like listening to it from start to finish, and to feel the entire emotional movement linking the entire soundtrack into one single masterpiece. I don't know about you, but I find it pretty hard to achive this when I listen to a beautifull track, yearn to hear the next, but hear Fredestare instead. Honestly, I do not know why they throw an oldie right in the middle of the soundtrack. Why not put it at the end with the others at least?

In all, this music is still very good. If none of the above that I mentioned bothers you and you are a soundtrack fan, then you should love this, as it is maturely composed, and most of the music is very pleasant.

Free Music Review: Very Boring, Not Recommended
Hit: 2 Stars

This was not at all what I thought it would be. From beginning to end the score was slow and completly dull, not a bit romantic. The music in the film was sequenced perfectly so that the music filled the emotions at that time. But when you listen to the soundtrack without the film you are simply turned off and disappointed. Repetative melodies can get old after a while, this score proves just that.

Free Music Review: bland
Hit: 2 Stars

I have no idea why this won the academy award. Maybe it was because of the weak competition that year. I saw the movie and enjoyed it and the music went well with the movie but this soundtrack on its own is eminently forgettable. The high points are the tracks by Fred Astaire, Ella and Benny Goodman.

Free Music Review: English Patient review
Hit: 1 Stars

I bought this CD based on another customer's review, re: they said it was their favorite of over 200 soundtracks they possessed. Whew. I've got to ask what the other soundtracks are that they possess?! :0( To be honest, I haven't listened to the entire soundtrack yet, but what I've heard is awful bland, when compared to the several dozen other soundtracks I have....I hate to be a downer, but maybe that's why I got this cd for 15 cents??? :0(
Sorry.
Sigh-ned,
"Blase'"
