As a big Hahn fan I have all of her recordings from which this one is taken. I wouldn't trade any one of those for this two CD bargain.
They said this collection was remastered, which was one of the big reasons I bought it (I particularly didn't like the balance between violin and orchestra in the Beethoven)... and I do like the re mastering job. That said, I am glad to have this one primarily BECAUSE OF the selections chosen.
Now if she will just make another recording with Natalie Zhu.

Flutist James Galway once remarked that when he is playing every single note is as important as any other. Hahn understands this precept and puts it to superb practice. Her rendering of the Bach Chaconne expresses a profound depth of longing yet with technical precision that is awesome. Versions by all the greats Zukerman, Menuhin etc. seem by comparison muddy and lacking in emotional force.
This release is of the "highlights" genre and may not suite those who prefer complete works, yet it provides an interesting collection including some less well known but worthy pieces. In all the tracks Hahn demonstrates her assured technique and wonderful musicality across a wide range of styles.
