Free Music Notes for Electric Arguments

Free Music Review: WOW!
Hit: 5 Stars

The new Paul McCartney is the biggest musical surprise I've had all year. I was expecting yet another disappointment in a long line of disappointments or mediocre releases and was hoping there would be one or two good songs.

To me, this sounds like Sgt. Pepper mixed with the White Album. Add liberal doses of dance, trance, elecronic and pop and you have a mind pleasing and teasing mix. For my money this is his best musical release since 1975's Venus and Mars or 1973's Band on the Run. It's the sound of creativity not channeled with commercial expectations. It's melodic and fun, odd and enchanting, foot tapping and mind expanding.

I found myself looking at the CD to get the name of almost every song as I listened because the music interested me enough that I wanted to know the name of the individual song. Surprise yourself and pick up this CD. Put it on at a quiet moment and sit back and enjoy the ride.

Free Music Review: Another Great One
Hit: 5 Stars

McCartney's previous five albums (Flaming Pie, Run Devil Run, Driving Rain, Chaos and Creation in the Backyard, and Memory Almost Full) were all exceptional in very different ways. Though I tend to prefer Flaming Pie, Memory Almost Full, and possibly Run Devil Run, Electric Arguments rates close to those albums in overall quality, but is far more visceral while sacrificing little in terms of melody. While the first track, "Nothing Too Much Just Out of Sight", is a nasty screamer, the rest of the album presents some awesome melodic rockers, mixed with some beautiful ballads, and some dreamy musical textures. The best tracks are the gorgeous "Dance 'Til We're High", the U2-like rocker "Sing the Changes", the driving rocker "Highway", and the gospel-like, folksy "Light From Your Lighthouse", although others may surface as favorites depending on mood. Another great one - one of McCartney's best.

Free Music Review: the mac's back!
Hit: 5 Stars

I have heard this 5 times already today. I am a Beatle fan from back in '67 and I think the new "Fireman" CD is among Paul's finest.
I have the other Fireman CD's and those are in their way, very good too.
This new one is head and shoulders above the first two.
This new one is Beatles-grade material.
The song for Mills is especially good. Better than "Helter Skelter".
"Two Magpies" is also a favorite.
The CD spans lots of different styles and all are very well executed as only Macca could.
Somewhere,John has to be smiling,if he would've been lucky enough to hear this. It certainly is not typical Macca "granny music".
It deserves a Grammy nod and 5-stars from MOJO,UNCUT.
MOJO ought to name it one of their "instant classics",'cos that's what it is.
Paul,thanks very much! And Youth,you are great,too.

Free Music Review: Paul's best
Hit: 5 Stars

So interesting, so varied, so creative, so GREAT! Paul's best I've ever heard. More experimental than pop, but something for everyone. My wife & kids even dig it. Easily accessible, but very layered to keep you endlessly interested in this great work. Doesn't sound as spontaneous as it was. Very well done/ produced.

Most of all, great songs. One of my all time favorite albums. Then again, in terms of expectations, I had no idea what to expect. I was told that it was just sort of a jumbled mess and no good. The first song is a little out there, but it gets a little crisper, until you hit the pinnacle on track #10 with "Is This Love?"

Sounds years ahead of its time, fresh, fun. An affront to the never ending bland pop polluting the airwaves and making music `zombies' out of the masses.

Free Music Review: Still McCartney although in a new mode
Hit: 5 Stars

Being a long time McCartney fan, I was at first a bit apprehensive about purchasing this CD - I like McCartney's style, including most of his classical work, but I was not sure what to expect. Needless to say, I was most pleasantly surprised at the musicality of the entire work. I guess I expected a lot more experimental music here, and while you can observe Macca stepping out of his comfort zone, he never gives up his tune-smithing for the sake of just making noise.

I especially enjoyed "Highway" and "Light from your lighthouse". I was encouraged to purchase this CD after listening to the samples of each track on Amazon's site (thank you, Amazon.com!), and I am so glad I took the plunge. The CD continues to grow on me, and I would recommend it to both longtime Macca fans and those new to his music.
