Anthology 1969-1972Free Music Review: contains most of the essentials Hit: 5 Starsfor the most part everythng is here if you are coming from nowhere and need to get a good feel for what FBB were going for and hit right on the money. gives a complete profile of the first two albums in correct song order and a selected look at the band right after gram's departure. the format is a little cleaner in its set up of the song list than the "out of the blue" retro set CD, but doesn't contain all of "out of the blues" song selection. liner notes and pictures are very good and worth the money to the die hard fan. plus it is in 24 bit remaster!
Free Music Review: Early Burritos still tasty Hit: 5 StarsHere we have it--the first three Flying Burrito Brothers albums alongside familiar B-sides, etc-- remastered and offered up on one two-disc set. As far as the sound goes, it is much better than all prior releases. And yes, it proves the incredible talent that Gram Parsons had. But we were already so attuned to that that it is actually the second disc that proves the most interesting. The third, eponymous FBB album was the first to be recorded following Parsons' exit, and while it's far from the best, it is excellent nonetheless. Rick Roberts helped the band move forward; his contributions to the Burrito legacy should not be dismissed. All in all, a definitive look at the early years of the greatest country-rock band of all time; a band which continues to put out great music to this day, but ultimately may have had it's greatest influence from 1969-1972.
