Free Music Notes for The FountainFree Music Review: Haunting & soaring Hit: 5 Stars
It's rare for a movie soundtrack to be able to stand on its own as a complete piece of music, but this is definitely one such soundtrack. Previous reviewers have already spoken eloquently of its melancholy & ecstatic beauty, and I can only agree with their comments. If you've seen the movie, then the music will evoke its poignant images & story once more; but if you haven't seen it, you'll still be swept away & deeply moved by this intensely emotional score. Sometimes working through minimalist understatement, sometimes swelling & surging like an ocean of stars & memories, it speaks directly to the heart. Powerfully Romantic, both bleak & comforting, and most highly recommended!
Free Music Review: Exquisite Soundtrack, Very high repeat value Hit: 5 Stars
Movie soundtrack buffs all know that a soundtrack once considered amazing, can oftentimes lose it's appeal after repeated listenings. The Fountain is not one of those however. Except for the track Holy Dread, this soundtrack is amazing. There are very few soundtracks that rank in the 'immortal' category for me.
Patriot Games
The Fountain
A Beautiful Mind
It's not that there aren't other songs that one can listen to 2,000 times without getting sick of, it's that you can put these soundtracks on loop in their entirity and still find them pleasing to the ear after a weak.
I think I used my two cents up. :-)
Free Music Review: phenomenal Hit: 5 Stars
Oh...what could be said to truly describe the beauty of this CD. It's phenomenal. Clint Mansell together with Kronos Quartet did an amazing job. I can't stop listening to this CD. And it's been months. Could it be because it let's me relive the story of the two people in love? It's very romantic. The piano is mesmerizing. I think that if you've watched the movie, by listening to this soundtrack you can relate to the journey that those two characters are going through. The journey of love....."Together We Will Live Forever" is probably my favorite. If you could, would you want to live forever? With the one I Music Review: A score that by far outshines the film Hit: 5 Stars
The film the Fountain, is a rather puzzling affair, that left me rather unsatisfied. The one thing that you will remember long after this film fades from memory is the mesmerising soundtrack.
I can only liken the experience of the visuals and music in absolute harmony to Phillip Glass' perfect score music for the last half hour of the Scorese film Kundun.
There are two main themes to the film and both are very moving and stirring at the same time. As someone else has mentioned in their review it might pay to see the movie to apprecitate the score at first. This is one moody score that I will be playing over and over.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Hit: 5 Stars
What a great disc. My suggestion is to listen to the disc in its entirety. It's so beautiful and sad; it has the same effect as Moonlight Sonata on me, but at a different pace.
The movie was a little over my head. Some people seem to hate it and others love it. I'm not sure about the storyline, but the visuals were very good, especially since there was very little cgi in this film (the nebula is actually yeast growing under the microscope). For me, the best part of this movie was the soundtrack. I may have missed certain parts of the movie because I kept catching myself being mesmerized by the music.
