Free Music Notes for The FountainFree Music Review: Holds the Film together...fantastic Hit: 5 Stars
Great score...the first time I saw The Fountain, I only started thinking about how good the music was AFTER the movie had ended - as it should be! The second time, I paid more attention to the interesting themes presented. This is a surprisingly complex (yet, dare I say...minimalist?) soundtrack...for anyone who has seen the film, quite emotionally stimulating.
Good music! What a nice surprise. This is worth listening to, whether you've seen the movie or not.
Free Music Review: Very beautiful film music Hit: 5 Stars
Fascinating, beautiful and moving music from the Kronos Quartet and rock band Mogwai.
I played this CD all day yesterday, and I am listening to it now at 6:18 AM in the morning before work. How to describe it? A little like Ambient music, only played on acoustic instruments rather than synthesizers, not that I would have objected if it was all done electronically.
Moody and spaceous music. The best soundtrack I've heard since Princess Mononoke.
Free Music Review: Music for the Soundtrack Bignners Hit: 5 Stars
The Fountain was described to me as a piece of artwork filled with perceptions and beautiful art direction. However, no one even told me the exceptional music that played an instrumental role in creating a feel for this movie that made me tingle.
Clint Mansell is truly an amazing composer and a master in his field, I have enjoyed many of his work in many movies such as smoking aces and requiem of a dream! You have to give it all a listen.
Free Music Review: Fantastic Hit: 5 Stars
This score is evidence of Clint Mansell's maturing as a composer. His theme for Requiem for a Dream was hauntingly beautiful, but the rest of the score does not quite hold together outside of the movie. The Fountain is very thematic, with each piece experimenting with and playing upon the main theme. The result is a coherent CD that is breathtaking. On the film, it is of course a stunning addition to a gorgeous film. I highly recommend both.
Free Music Review: Beautiful, haunting, stunning Hit: 5 Stars
It's very rare for any soundtrack to support the movie in such a powerful way but also be able to stand on its own as a complete art piece. "The Fountain" OST is one such example. Beautiful, haunting, emotional, poetic, poignant, mesmerizing, unforgettable, transcending time and space. A movie soundtrack does not get any better than this. In fact, the score is so powerful that it often even overshadows the visuals. Highly recommended.
