Free Music Review: Another "whining" group devoid of harmony and a beat. As if "Five for Fighting" wasn't bad enough....

No doubt I'll take flack from this band's supporters, but I found this entire album to be an insufferable whine-fest. My God, whatever happened to rock? You know, something with a beat and a singer who doesn't sound like he's about to toss his cookies, so to speak. Even my kids asked "why is the man on the radio is whining so much?" when "How to save a life" was thrust on us for the 56th time that day.
I tried to "get" the songs, expecially the beaten into a pulp by overplay "How to save a life", but just couldn't do it. I simply cannot see how endless whining and whimpering constitutes music. But, based on what commercial radio is playing "whining" seems to be in. Let's see, we have John Mayer, Five for Fighting, Snow Patrol and now this bunch. Just great.... In the span of a few years we've gone from music with some drive that kicks a little butt to.....this? Ugh....

This album is totally addictive; mesmerizing! I first became aware of The Fray when I heard Vienna used as a background for a montage of Kenneth Branagh's Hamlet on You Tube. I listened to it over and over again. Finally I went in search of the band. How to Save a Life was a new album and had not really hit the scene. I bought one for myself and one for my niece, who is also a musician. She is 18 I am 48. (My 13 year old son borrows mine all the time) Regardless of age, if you love great music you will fall in love with this band. Every tune is exceptional. The song How to Save a Life with curl through your brain like some out of control ivy plant. For the most part the songs are easy flowing Rock (with absolutely NO offensive lyrics!) My personal favorite is Little House. It starts out with a gentle piano solo and becomes the "Rock and Rolliest" of them all. I like to boost my car stereo up so high my mirror vibrates. But I can only do that when I'm alone in the car. You must own this CD.Free Music Review: Their Life Is Saved

These past few years, there always seems to be somebody who can make a good example of a sincere song. The Fray has been one of those acts who've really broke out from out of nowhere, with a very somber and down to Earth song. How To Save A Life, the title track from the groups' breakout record is one of the most compassionate, but not overdone song I've heard on the radio right now. I like it because the lyrics click very nicely, and signal what makes a good song stand out from the heart. I just hope that the next single from these guys just keeps up like this one did.

Free Music Review: Interesting voice - solid CD

I bought this CD for my son, then sneaked it into my car. This is a really good group. Isaac Slade's voice is so interesting that I find new things to catch my attention each time I play the CD. I'm glad he doesn't cover it up with a lot of harmonies or stacking. I found every song to be very likeable; in fact most could probably stand alone as singles. Of course, stellar tracks like "How to Save a Life" eclipse the others, but that doesn't take away from the overall enjoyability of the entire CD. Free Music Review: AMAZINGG!!!

i most definitely recommend this cd to EVERYONE! it is one of the best cd's i have ever purchased, it was worth every penny. if you really love slow songs this is definitely the right cd for you. the verses to each song have so much meaning. i love that i can put on this cd and never have to skip a song! its defintiely one that will be in my cd player for awhile!!
